that motor is only legal in the 3.3 Jato;)

before that statement gets blown up....the reason for the 3.3 engines being legal is the trx trucks no longer make the 2.5 RTR kits, they have been replaced with the 3.3 and will only be allowed to be ran in that truck....nothing else

* Quick Question about Truck Rule #4
"Must be unaltered standard size/width truck wheels."..........
Since we are mounting foam tires on a stock wheel designed for a rubber tire is cutting off the mounting lips to make a flat mounting surface considered "Altered"?? Also when cutting the ruff foam edge can you cut a little bit of the wheel, and if so how much??
After reading about Ban For Life over an extra glow plug washer or an A3 plug vs an A8 in the Limited Class, I'd like a clarification
Thank you...............johnO
PS Not that this effects me, but as I read the chassis rule it seems NO HOME MAKE Chassis??
Also the BMS transmission comes from a On-Road car and is NOT in the Spirit of the Truck Class............... Trucks should have Truck Transmissions

I know... Mine was bought as a 3.3 Jato... I had to put in a 2.5 to make it Legal last year.. Got a 3.3 sittin' on the shelf ready to drop back in...:D
In all reality I won't run the 3.3 in my Jato... It's got WAY too much power that I can't handle quite yet... Just thought it was a cool possibility.

JohnnyO... I agree 100%. I don't quite understand how that design of a transmission (which is not a production 3-gear transmission) got into the Nitro classes.... The rules use to state that the transmission must be a 3-gear.... not looking for a flame war just thinking out loud...;)

Hi Johnny,
ON the tire rule last year I noticed several guys narrowing truck tires to the point that they were smaller than the rears on a sprint/EDM...... we do not want this happening this season the tire must be 2" wide as most are and I will clarify that in the rules. It also must be a 2.2" wheel with no exceptions. I tried to change the truck rule on chassis and was told I would just be better off eliminating the truck class all together , I really did not want that to happen so you can run what ever chassis (production or after market) as long as it fits into the guidelines of the truck class.
As far as eliminating the BMS style tranny it can only be in a BMS car that was turned into a truck. Meaning it has to have truck length A arms and meet the width and length of the truck class.
Also We the never said that the banned for life rule applied to the glow plug and every situation should be handled in a case by case basis. If anyone feels this is the wrong way to go with the limited class pm me and give me justified reasons as to why. I know it seems like a harsh rule but believe me if one person is caught I bet no one will attempt it again!

I know some people do not appreciate the time and effort it took to design the BMS gearbox. No, its not 3 gears but it does have a similar ratio in that is has two gears and a belt. Is it a fair advantage? In some cases yes if you know how to tune it properly. Before it came out I was trying to build something similar to run in electris and had a few people not like the idea because it could be an advantage. There were trannies built years ago that had two gears and a belt inside of a tranny case. Basically the same thing but a little more compact (minus the gear diff of course). Is it fair in the truck class? Again if the right person is tuning it, it could be a big advantage or a very big disadvantage. I applaud them allowing more companies into the truck class as long they follow the truck rules. Frankly it would be nice to see more oval specific trucks out there, but then again that wouldnt be cost efficient for everyone. No matter how you look at it, someone will or wont like these decisions and they are made to give everyone an equal shot of racing in whatever class they want to......

first off...its not a BMS gearbox nor did BMS design it...they simply utilized it, no different than custom works using the GT tranny....and i really do not think it has any advantage over any other transmission out there other than it not having to be rebuilt as much. Sometimes i think the ball diff has the advantage, even more so running foam tires.
We are letting that tranny be used in the BMS type truck because that is what BMS designed their vehicles around. its so we do not eliminate someone that runs bms equipment from running a truck....kinda like letting the 3.3 engine be used in the new trx rtr truck

BMS has been a dirt oval supporter for a long time. they deserve to run in any class they want without hearing any crap.

Bill,
I'm working on some wheels tonight. a stock Asc. GT measures 1.95 / 1.96 wide. I thought the minimum width was 1.5, but I am in favor of a wider tire. Maybe a 10% lead-way from the proposed 2.00 width for a minimum of 1.8 or even 1 3/4's..... That way if a tire get chunked a little maybe it could be cut and run.

Hi Johnny ,
I will do some more research on this and then update it into the rules when I have some better info. I measured some last season and could have sworn that it measured right at 2" but I could be wrong (would not be the first time....lol)
