How to take off the factory pinion gear?

The stock one is just pressed on. You can just pull it by hand and it will slide off.

I recommend getting a metal pinion from Associated or Robinson. I stripped my stock pinion soon after I got my Slider.

The stock motors splined shaft makes it difficult to install a set screw gear.

In Box Stock class we have had little problems with the stock pinions. You just have to set the mesh properly.

I had MUCH rather strip a pinion than a set screw, Those things are tiny.

How is the slider racing going in Phoenix, are you racing on the dirt track, box stock or mod.?
