Ran across some pics from the last Open Wheel race held at Kranzels in 2001....thought a few might enjoy them. Any chance we'll see the governor back behind the wheel sometime? I know I heard reports of him lurking at some events last year!

it was a cool track--both of them. i got the chance to race on the big track and the short track. but i never got the chance to race my truck there. does anyone know of a track that has a electric truck class that even comes close to the attendance and competition level of the truck class kranzel's had during the winter? it's not hard to find a good class of edm or sprint, but where have all the trucks gone? awesome pics btw.

Ran both for awhile.Stock EDM gearbox would run like a 100-49,50 in gearing and you didnt lift if you did somebody would be on top of you.Got my nickname there thanks to MR. DeAngelis-lol.Short track was also fast.Start of winter season back straight would be green and tacky as can be.

From what I heard last the best class was RC18T. I don't think the carpet is a big hit since they made the switch.

Yes the 18th scale is the most popular class. I know I miss the clay very much too. It was a difficult decision for Kranzels to change, but they did what was thought to be the best option. They dont get nearly the same crowds as before but it is still fun when you do race there....

Those were the days...I am sure that I was there racing. Would have loved to see my car there....Got the feeling that the racer turn out wasn't as great as they planned...That is one of the reasons I haven'y turn a lap in three years....Gonna change that soon...What do you guys think the racer turn out would be if they put the dirt back in????

This topic brings back many memories. Loved that place and all the racers. It is true that I did win a chassis kit at the WDRA Summer Nationals. But that is long gone. My last race in my own equipment was the 2002 Custom Works USOWDOC at Coopers. Haven't even cleaned my r/c shop up since then. R/C racing for me for all intent and purpose pretty much ended with the passing of my wife "Robin" It just wasn't the same without her! But I do have to say I really miss all of the R/C community. What a great bunch of guys. Miss all my old friends. I check in here frequently to see what all my old buddies are up to and how they are doing. Besides how the heck could I race with Billy gone to NC and Terry not racing much. Who would do all my work. LOL. On that note I personally want to thank Billy (FRED) again for the chance to run one of his cars at the 2006 WDRA summer nats.
HAPPY NEW YEAR & Good Luck to all in 2008
The Govenor
