View Full Version : Redneck RC 2007-2008 Winter Schedule
RCRACR20
August 23rd, 2007, 9:49 PM
For the 3rd consecutive winter, we will be running in The Dungeon, on our very racy 95' runline dirt oval. We will once again be running on Sundays, with points racing beginning on Sept. 30th. We plan on having a week of racing before hand, which will be posted here in the upcoming days.
Basic Race Information:
-Classes include: 1/18 Mini Sprints (Losi mini Sliders only), 1/18 open, EDM Small Block, EDM Big Block Stock, Brushless EDM, Open Sprint, Trucks, and 2wd Latemodels (following the same guidelines provided by Chico's RC Speedway).
-All races will be 4 minutes long, with bumpups for winners of lower features.
-WDRA body and weight rules apply for EDM Sportsman, EDM Small Block, EDM Modified and EDM Big Block.
-All cars are required to go to the tech table to be weighed. To help move racing along, all racers will be required to marshall, with the exceptions being those who are physically unable, those racing in back to back racers, drivers who bump up from lower mains.
-Trucks must have truck arms, truck tires, truck bodies. 27T motors only. Novak or LRP 13.5 Brushless Allowed. Side damns are allowed.
-Losi Mini Slider Class will allow the use of Whiplash 1400s, ball diffs, and titanium tierods. Tekin and Mamba Brushless systems will be the only allowed brushless systems in the mod slider class. Additional Rules for the Slider Class is as follows:
-Stock Class:
(1) Chassis plate must be Losi Slider. NO DRILLING, MACHINING, ETC
(2) The following Losi Slider/Mini T hop ups are allowed:
-Titanium Tie Rods
-Ball Diffs
-Whiplash 1400 18T Packs
-Robinson Pinions
-Cars must have stock body, motors, electronics (exception - radio for existing Spektrum users). All other parts must be stock, including the tires and rims. No ifs, ands, or buts.
-Mod Class:
(1) Cars must have Losi Mini-Slider cage, bodies, and wings.
(2) BSR and Losi Foam Tires are allowed
(3) Tekin and Mamba 5400 Brushless Motor systems are allowed. Larger systems are not allowed.
(4) IB1400 and Elite 1500 18T packs are allowed. NO LIPOS.
(5) After market servos are allowed.
(6) Stock suspension parts are encouraged. However, due to the higher speeds in this class, after market parts in areas prone to breaking are tolerated.
-No Lipos are permitted in any class.
-Brushless motors allowed in the Open Sprint Car Class (10.5 or other 19T equivalent), and the Brushless EDM (13.5 Equivalent only) Class.
-Several have asked about running brushless motors in EDMs. After observing the transition to include brushless in the WDRA Small Block Class, and having read several hundred posts on numerous internet forum threads, as well as listening to drivers opinions and thoughts, we have decided that brushless motors will NOT be run in the EDM Small Block or EDM Big Block Stock Classes. However, the Novak 13.5 motors will be allowed in the Brushless EDM class. The bottom line is, last year we had approx. 18 BB Stock drivers (and small block drivers) on average, and we do not want to hear complaints similar to what we have heard about the two types of motors being mixed in the small block class in the series. Calvin and I feel that the best way to include them right now is for them to be run in the Brushless class. As many of you know, the dungeon hosts a very short track, so anything more than a 19 turn brushed motor is just plain insane to begin with. The few drivers looking to run 19T brushed motors will be allowed to run with the brushless EDM's.
-Race fees. Due to several racers suggestions, the first class will be $8, 2nd class will still be $5. With this increase in price for the first entry, we will be having cable turned on so that racers may enjoy watching a sporting event or a Nascar race or whatever else they may choose, while they wait to run. We have also ordered some clay to be added into the track. In addition, we will have a new pit room, located on the other side of the staircase in the track room. It has been remodeled and cleaned up, and an electrician will be adding lighting and outlets, so that we will have more room for racers to pit. A new laptop has been purchased for scoring, which was actually used this past weekend for the Empire State Dirt-Oval Championships. Finally, the track will be open 7 days a week, with the only exceptions being holidays and planned track maintenance days.
-The race season will be split up into 2 seperate seasons with a break between the two. We will be having a Race of Champions at the end of the season, where drivers who win during the season will be automatic qualifiers and will be seeded into features based on the number of wins they have ( The driver with the most wins will be TQ in the A, the driver with the 2nd most wins will start 2nd, and so forth, until all race winners have been seeded). All unqualified drivers will be grouped into heats, and will run one round of qualifying and seeded behind all pre-qualified drivers. From there, we will run features with bump-ups as normal. All special events (Dual in the Dungeon, etc) will also be qualifiers for this race.
-The 3rd Annual Dual in the Dungeon will be held either Saturday January 19th or Saturday January 26th, 2008. We will have a concrete date for this race in the upcoming weeks.
That should cover most things for now. As I said, we will once again be running under WDRA guidelines. I will make copies of these rules, along with the rules drawn up for the latemodel class, and have them posted in the track room. If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me or email me at matto29@yahoo.com

There was never any talk about a banquet for last winters points racing, you may be thinking back to the previous year.
As far as prizes, with the exception of Keith and Jack, I believe everyone received their prizes. Please feel free to talk to Calvin on this subject, as he was the one who set up all of that stuff.

Looks good and look forward to racing the dungeon again in a few weeks, Just have a few quick questions
1) Confirmed date for the first race indoors at the dungeon? We are done at Chico's next weekend and I have a field of late models ready to roll into the dungeon.
2) Points actually starting on Oct. 7th instead of the 30th due to the WDRA Albany swing?
3) Speaking of points, One long points season throughout the whole winter or split up into 2 seperate points seasons, one Fall/Winter series and then a Winter/Spring series?

Couple answers:
1) I will post on here exactly when we will start. We are doing some remodeling for the shop portion and that takes priority (its almost done however). We are going to be adding pit benches downstairs eventually, until then, if anyone is able to bring a table, that would be excellent.
2) Points will begin the 30th. There will be drops, and the weekend of the US Open Wheel Race will be a non points race, as will the weekend of the February Freeze.
3) Calvin and I have yet to decide whether or not to split up the seasons. I wouldn't care either way personally, so what our game plan is is to have a drivers meeting on the 1st week of racing and let the racers vote. Also, we will discuss on a 2nd race date for the week, and let the racers decide which day of the week that would be. As always, we try to accommodate the racers

I think what Geo is saying (correct me if I'm wrong) is that he'd like to see what your final plans are before he decides where and what he wants to race.

hey guys, lets see if we can clear things up.
last year i raced carpet for a couple of reasons.one there was no schedule laid down for redneck and it was even questionable if redneck was gonna stay open.so i went with carpet racing.
this year money for myself is even tighter so i will be racing a mini slider and it will be at redneck maybe even walts on some nights, idk but redneck for shizzle.
my 2 cents on what ya guys should do for racing and meetings.....its good to hear everyones thoughts on what they want BUT in the end it is the hobby shop that has to put on the show and there is always racers that will not like the rules no matter how many meeting you have ...
i believe it would be much easier for redneck to lay down the law BEFORE racing starts.don't leave it up to the racers , you have heard our inputs for over 3 years now, and you matt race so i think you have a good idea on how and what racers want.sometimes making a decision is hard but you have to do it.
classes, look around see whats going on,atleast offer optional classes, why push potential racers away just because you don't offer a class ?
box stock classes...eh! box stock is mostly junk.i like how you guys are seeing the flaws and allowing minor changes to the slider class. with that said i dont like when something changes halfway through the season.stick to the plan, change what needs to be changed for the next season. if it is a big problem then thats different, example motor is junk..i for one wont keep on buying stock motors over and over,i know how they are.if they are real cheap that may be a different story.i want to race with a durable low maintenance car. if i feel the need for speed and moding the cars thats where it would be nice for an optional class.
use what you have learned in the few years you have been open and take that into account and set a real schedule. i know for me i hate when things are up in the air and decisions are made on a whim.

you have some good points Geo. The only real concern I have is about the points season. I just feel that a six month long point season is way too long to ask racers to commit too, even with the drops. I would rather see it split up into two or three 10 weeks series similar to what Radio Hill does during the winter season. Think Matt has the best idea on that though with a small drivers meeting on opening day and see where the racers stand. As far as rules look i think there fine with what they have established for the season, and like you stated, any big problems that arise can be dealt with accordingly.

hey matt, everything looks good.
im sure the mini slider class will take off. i would though consider putting a motor limit on the class. example, when solly ,myself, jan ,bill and dick raced 18t's as well as others we found out that a 5400k motor is just as fast as a nice brushed motor and in some cases a tad slower.
the reason i bring this to your attention is that i understand you as well as others want to keep this class as close to stock as possible and limiting the motor size would be a good idea.the 5400k wont out perform a good stock motor,it will be close to it in speed there for competitive. no need for a giant power plant.if you allow any motor in the class i can see havoc on the horizon.
till next post , i say good day !

why not the just the losi motors. their cheap and then you won't have a big speed defferince. so when some one walks in and buys a new car raceday morning.he or she is not as bad in the way.

more than likely i will. i will probably get a rocket wedge so i don't have the ugliest body on the track.
i and others would like to see some kind of brushless class. no added weight or anything to fit in an other class. just a class that they aren't added to a class just for them. so that there is no complaining.

In the first post, under basic racing info, read the 8th dash. It says brushless motors (13.5 and 10.5) are allowed to run in the EDM Mod class. I have a dozen or so 19 turn motors I want to use up, and a couple others do as well, so brushed mod motors will run together with the brushless motors in this class. If you would rather have the class called brushless EDM, then ill change the name of it, and brushed motors will be allowed to run with them. We already have an EDM Mod class in the system, so I prefer to leave the name be. In my opinion, it will be more fun if there are 10 guys in the class rather that 2 seperate classes with 5 racers each (or however the turnout my be on a week to week basis).
And the weight limit is 3.25 lbs or 52 ounces, whether its brushless or brushed.

calling it mod will keep some people out if you try a brushless class and it has no turn out dump it. also it is not fair to run either motor in the same class do to each of their advanatages. if we are racing 19 turns i would much rather run them over brushless do to the torque. the mod never lasts the whole season.

i would have no problem running the motors if they aren't junk but my experience with mini motors are not good. they don't last long and there really isnt that much maintenance you can do to them to make them last longer.

the cars i seen run seemed fast with them. i just don't think buying a 160 car and adding a ton of new stuff if good for new racers. but if there is a cheap fix to the motors i think that will be fine.

I've run my 13.5 for a few weeks at RHR at the end of the spring season, and outside at Fingerlakes for the whole season, and I haven't had any durability issues. It's actually amazing how clean these things stay on the inside compared to a brushed motor.

Both trucks and sprints get a good turnout once the season gets going and the weather is not as nice as it has been. All sprints are gear box (trust me, you want to run a gearbox). Cobra makes a conversion to allow the use of an associated stealth tranny on their cars.

13.5 brushless systems allowed. Side damns are allowed.
-Losi Mini Slider STOCK Class:
(1) Must use stock body/cage/wing
(2) Must use all stock plastic suspension and tranny pieces
(3) For added durability, Ball diffs and titanium tierods are allowed. Other components may also be added to this list, depending on whether or not any issues arise.
(4) Must use stock motor, Electronics and tires
(5) 1500 limit on batteries.
(6) No drilling or modifying the chassis of any kind.
-Losi Mini Slider MOD Class:
(1) Must use stock body/cage/wing
(2) BSR, Losi, and Associated foams are allowed
(3) Any 5400 equivalent brushless motor is allowed
(4) 1500mah limit on batteries. NO LIPOS
(5) Ball Diffs, CVDs, Titanium tierods and hingepins, and aluminum shocks are all allowed. We are still trying to limit hopups in this class to help keep cost, however aftermarket parts in high stress areas are tolerated.
-No Lipos are permitted in any class.
-Brushless motors allowed in the Open Sprint Car Class (10.5 or other 19T equivalent), and the Brushless EDM (13.5) Class.
-The race season will be much like seaon, lasting till roughly middle of April.
