Jim,
At this point it was kind of a due or die situation for us with Trains and Lanes having Three tracks that all need to run, the Mill on August 12th , the Rc pro series at Newville on August 25th, The tour race at Liberty Valley on September 2nd, Personal obligations on my part for the second and third weeks of September, Newville's championship race on the final week September this is what we had left. A rain date will never suit everyone we wanted to have the season over in early September and I planned my personal vacations and Wedding around the racing season. If we could get it in sooner believe me we would. Having it this far out also gives others that travel get distances time to plan .

Works for me. I like the track so I'm glad we get to go back.

Just like you can't change a tire rule once the season has started, the same thing holds true for a race schedule. I too have vacation plans for mid Sept. Even if you add another drop, it just changes the entire original design of the points series..... We all had race dates to plan our schedules around, you just can't change the rules now.... Since there were no provisions for a rain date within the Tours time parameter for the season final, I see no option but to take it as a wash out.......... We should use the Asphalt date(8/12/07) for race #5, after all this series is on Dirt.............. Whats in conflict on the 19th??

Trains and Lanes has a big race scheduled for the 19th on the pavement track....... last year when Liberty Valley rained out we had the same type of situation and rescheduled the race for a later date no one had a problem with it then (true some could not make the rain date but we still had a decent turnout) . I do not understand what you mean about the series being on dirt but if the racers feel that the points for trains should just be a drop I guess we could take a poll on it or something though I do not feel it is fair to trains and lanes to just drop the race after all of the time and effort they put into getting the track ready for last weekend ! Their will not be a points race for the mill this Season due to the tire issue you spoke about above. I tried all week so far to come up with a good solution to the rain out if what the tour and the track worked out is not good enough we are open to other ideas but use all of the info provided to you from my post above..... not just what suits you best ;)

as for me, i am planning on going to Wilson NC on the 10th and 11th, but if the race was to be on the 12th, i would change my plans, or drive all night, The race at the Mill would be fun and it has been in the past with Nitro on Macadam, but like Johnny O had mentioned, It is NOT an official TOUR RACE, I am sure the majority or TOUR racers would be eager to get Race 5 in asap,
as usual, just "MY" opinion

Thunder or Johnny can answer for sure but I am pretty sure that the 12th, the 19th, and 25th are out on Trains and Lanes behalf due to having other races scheduled. Both Brock and I have other obligations on the second and third weeks in September. We are open to other ideas The only way the Mill could become a points race would be if some one supplied tires to everyone who does not have tires for the pavement. ( I still do not think it would be fair to Trains and lanes).

How about running the race on a Saturday?

we have went through the saturday deal. all the tracks in pa run sat and that would not draw as many racers.

you have to remember fellas if we as far as the tour commitee members cannot be there and the track owners cannot run then we can not race. I personally cannot make it up the rest of aug. which only leaves bill and brock to run everything as far as tech and announcing. I can make the oct date. we may have a smaller car count number but remember you cannot make everyone happy. if we cancel which would not be fair to trains and lanes then we will have people saying that it was not fair because of us using a points drop.

The 12th is a good date for Trains & Lanes. We had that date penciled on the calendar.
The 5th and 19th were the dates being used by the off-road and the asphalt tracks.

I am not a follower of the tour this year but I am a part of the group that maintains the Trains and Lanes track. I understand most people seem to want to just get the race over with but for me I think October will be a great alternative to run the race. I have too many personal commitments in the next few weeks to be able to help with the track maintenance and the next few weekends are definately out for me with family events and other activities planned. I hate the idea of Johnny, Phil and possibly Steve left to tend to the track without my help. I've been MIA enough this summer and August's schedule just doesn't work for me to assist with the club. October's date is a perfect fit for me and honestly I think it will be much more condusive to having the best possible track surface that time of year. Really guys, if it's a weather issue it's not that cold yet in early October. I agree that if the committee releases a date, that's when it should be. You can't please everyone. The date was chosen due to the track's other scheduled events and I think that the 12th is just too short notice for most racers to make arrangements to get there.

Like I said, I am not a tour racer this year but in my opinion and what I feel is best for all is to go with the October date. Plenty of time for the racers to pencil in the date. Too many people this time of year have vacations scheduled and school is coming fast for the kids also. Lots of things going on in August for lots of people. I agree that asking the racers opinions on subjects is an awesome idea. Shows the committee really cares what we think. But when a race has to be rescheduled, that is simply something that has to be done around the current schedule and they have offered a date with plenty of time for racers to make arrangements to attend.
