Bill, thanks for letting me run the car. talk about a last minute rent a ride. Descided to run it about 7:30 - 8:00 yesterday. Had to borrow a receiver and servo from Jeff Cisney. Put the car together, ran it in practice and hardly made a change the rest of the day. It was a BLAST to drive. In the heats it felt like a carpet car.

BTW Bill, I think I cooked most of your tires with it ;)

I ruined ATLEAST 8 tires yesterday. 2 on the sprint car, the rest on the EDM.

Just curious how was the tire wear at Staubs race?

July 2nd, 2007, 12:57 PM
Staubs wasn't as bad...don't get me wrong it was there but you could easily toast a right rear in 4 mins yesterday and a right front you could just squeak out 8 mins. That was what had to give if you wanted to be fast you were going to ruin tires. can't wait till next years tour ;)

I barely had any tire wear at staubs, I ran a set of tires that had less then 1/4 tread left. They didn't look much different when the day was over.

I burned up a right rear every run, and a right front every two runs, I also had two left rears loose the glue on the bead and come off......... I just took a looked at my tires, and I have 10 that need replacement, and I don't have a good enough set to make another round if I had to. The right rear I ran in the main, was a excellent used tire that was "UN-treated", it lasted 3 minutes and 50 seconds, just as I was going to past Tate for 3rd, I heard the tire start to "Flap" as I went by the drivers stand, and it got loose going into one, so I had to drop off my pace and settle for 4th........................ On the other side of the tire debate, I ran a used set of RAD A's Saturday night that have been run at least 6 full races (parasitic, heats and mains)...... I've re-trued and regrooved them once, and they're race ready as I write this post...........NEWVILLE was a BLAST!! we had a GREAT Time Sat & Sun ........... Congratulations to ALL the racers...... Thank You to All the Supporters..... and a BIG Thumbs UP and a BIG THANK YOU to the entire Beidel Family, and thier main man Jack Moose Jr.............

I am not a speed guy and was wearing out tires every two runs on the edm and the late model. They where traction rolling Sunday cause the bite was awsome. And yes I will like it next year on the tour.

Curt I am glad you had fun running the car as good as it ran I can't believe it did not sell yesterday :D You almost set the one lap track record with the car and the 4 min record all in one heat race (your first race with the car and hardly any practice) . As far as the tire situation I cooked a right rear and right front at Staub's with hardly any real run time on the day! I did not run yesterday but my "box" of tires I gave to Curt to pick through and run what was good are all worn out now (it was well worth it to see him put on the show he did with my car) . I have been telling you guy's for years that all my car needed to be up front was a new driver and Curt proved that yesterday !!!! :D:D:D:D

Yes tire wear was an issue yesterday, but the thing to remember is that at Staub's it was very over cast and cloudy almost all day, yesterday it was extremely sunny and windy, That is what made the track more abrasive, But the racing was just as competitive, great job running the show guys,, Mike and Jack, track has been great all year long, keep it up,
PS someone take that red shirt away from Cisney

Good point about the weather Nick ....... Track was good yesterday I don't think guy's are saying the track was bad just the tire wear was high. Mike and Jack have been doing a good job with the track ............the proof is in the fact that the track record keeps on falling . The track records were close to being broke yesterday on rubber tires! ;) :D

It was a BLAST! Great Run Curt!

Yes the weather was a great deal different as it relates to tire wear from Staubs to Sunday at Newville. But for the first time ever I was using 100% of the 60% throttle I had in my car. And for the first time ever at Newville I was running laps in the 5 second range. even some laps in the 5 teens. Also for the first time ever at Newville I broke 40 laps w/ a 41 lap run, and I wan't getting run over, well not completely anyways. And even slow poke me burnt up some tires. (thanks Glenn for the loaners)

I'm ready for T&L now.

PS- Hey Nick, I didn't notice, but after the B main did you have to pay Henry $10???;) :D
