Rules Amendment

EDM Small Block Brushless Option

In recent weeks, as racers learn more about gearing & set-ups when running the brushless motors, it has become quite evident that the brushless motors have a distinct performance advantage over the brushed motors.

It has been my intention all along with this "experiment", to not force the Small Block Racers to have to buy brushless systems in order to stay competitive. So, in a measure to equalize the playing field, the following rules amendment for the Small Block division will be implemented for all WDRA events from this point forward:

Small Block cars utilizing the brushless motor systems will weigh a minimum of 4.00 pounds. Small Block cars using conventional brushed motors will stay with the current 3.25 pound (3 lb 4 oz) minimum.

Weight limits and/or other parameters will be adjusted as nescessary in a "trial and error" effort to equalize brushed vs brushless in the Small Block division for the rest of the year.

Look for the official rules to be updated on the website later today.

wallace

i applaud your decision to get these two types of motors on the track on an equal basis

you are one of the best series directors there is, with your ability to bend and not break

you are an asset to dirt oval racing

thank you

Thanks Fred. That means a lot to me coming from you. A lot of racers look up to you, including me. Your willingness to help others, even occasionally at the expense of your own on-track performance, has made the racers of New York State as competitive as they are today at the biggest events.

Thank YOU Billy Kimpton for all that you've done for DO R/C racing, including extreme selflessness, innovation, dedication, and not to mention one of the greatest attitudes I've ever seen. I'm honored to call you a friend.

Sounds like a great call to bump up the weight as a start to try to equal the playing feild.

This Saturday was my first time racing a car with a brushless in it, and trust me the car was unreal on how FAST it was compared to the other cars with brushed motors!

At one time in saturdays A-Main I was 1 car length from going a lap down to Mr. JRC and within 5 laps I was on his rear bumper.

And to run times like DW and Chico, Matt and so on that are running big block stock are in a small block.

Thanks Wally for and Chico for putting a GREAT RACE on track was GREAT!!!

wasn't the same with out you FRED!
