I race an rc18t, and have some setup questions. I use a front one way, rear diff. The car dives into the corner hard, and i can put it where i want it. BUT it pushes real bad as soon as i get back to the throttle, like to where i can't get back into till the straight. I've been trying different shock angles on the right rear. I already got the stiff springs in the rear. So here's the questions.

Will softening up the left rear help at all? (if it won't help what would that do?)

Since I'm running the stiff spring already in the right rear, would using thicker shock oil in the right rear alone help?

Lastly, right now i got the shock layed all the way over, outside on the arm and far inside on the shock tower... Whats that doing compared to the exact opposite? inside on the arm and outside on the shock tower?

The car needs more front bite off the corner, or less rear bite (which is easier to accomplish). Try even stiffer rear springs (if you can) to take out some more of the rear bite. You can also try moving weight in the car forward (batteries), a rear sway bar or just simply try raising the rear ride height a touch. You may have to play with weight placement if you are able to, to try to get some of the physical weight off of the rear tires under acceleration. Move the pack forward in the chassis if you can, or anything else in the car that you can move. I don't know what other adjustments you have on the Mini, so it's tough to say where you could go with camber links or anything else in the rear.

I'd fabricate a swaybar for the rear, though, if no one makes one. I'd bet it would loosen the car up of the corner nicely.

Also, what tires you are using plays a big factor, too. Try a rear tire that is a little less aggressive/bitey to free the car up a bit off the corners.

Standing up the shocks in the rear should help a bit, as well.

thanks for the response... i'll try standing up the shocks, I run bow ties, but the only other tire i have for it is a smaller diameter tire. Last time i tried that the diff didn't make it through the race. The rc18t has all the adjustments that i'm aware of that a 1/10th scale 4wd car does.

Front droop can also help with on power steering. If you have limiters in the shocks, take out some.If not, lengthen the shock a couple turns at the mounting ball cup on the shock shaft.

Standing up the rear shocks should help as Doug has pointed out.Ride height as noted too can be a big help. Its about keeping just enough steering in the car on exit to make it fast.Keeping the weight on the front of the car can be a tricky balancing act so be careful with weight jacking.Other then that, have you tried or are you allowed tire sauce? For rubber tires, try buggy grip on a loamy track,or if its really smooth and no loam, try paragon ground effects. You won't believe the difference just this can help.

Thanks guys, i wound up making drastic changes. Nothing little was helping. I put a front shock with a rear gold spring and 60 wt. oil in the right rear, and stood it up. Thats what i'm talking about!! Ran the fastest lap time the track has seen this year with that change, And i think ran the most laps in a 4 minute race this year as well. Car feels dialed now!

did you just standup the one rear shock or both?

by the end of the year, i had both rear shocks stood up with 60 wt. oil and rear gold springs... The front had a front blue on the left front a rear blue on the right front, 30 wt. oil, and the shocks layed all the way over.
