Well said guys, I 100% agree with it not being the proper thing to do changing the rules after the race season has started. The tour committee is having a meeting and i'm sure this is going to be a topic of discussion and i will make my opinion very public,
If we want to change, fine....in 2008 i'm all for it. As far as 2007, those rules were set and I'm willing to sacrifice some attendence to keep the integrity of the tour and respect of the drivers that started on rubber tires. Sure we would loose a few people if we went to foams, we would probably gain double those people for the ones who want to run foams, I'm just not willing to turn my back on those who supported us on rubber tires thus far this year. I for one invested a good bit of money for tires JUST for the tour. Those who know my know i would MUCH rather be on foams, but as far as changing a rule in the middle I am completely against it. Bill never said we were looking at changing, he just asked the question to see what the general consensus was....we are going to need to plan for 2008 so why not get the opinions and make that announcement as early as possible so people can use up their old stuff and buy different tires if need be.

We are probably one of the few series races around that get track/driver's input on things and weigh out the pros and cons and make decissions on what is best for the racers and the tracks....We do not benifit from the tour, we make 0 money from it. Everything made is given back to the racers so we will do what keeps them happy, not what makes the most money.

Either Bill or myself will let everyone know what comes from our meeting but my prediction is we will continue running the rules that are in place and have been since late last year.

BREAKING NEWS--7/7/2007--Based on driver/racer feedback Staub Brothers will now allow street tread or foam tires for the remainder of the 2007 season. All foam tires must be wiped clean of any traction compound before setting your vehicle down on the track or pit lane. Tires will not be allowed to leave tracks on the racing surface or pit lane. One warning will be issued before disqualification.
