Hey guys, Is there anyway to change the spur gear on a dominator without taking the top plate completely off? Thanks.

I usually take out the ten screws that hold on the top plate from the motor mount on back. Then I take out the four screws from the bottom of the chassis that hold on the bottom of the motor mount and the left reduction shaft carrier. It can get a little tricky, but if you are careful, the spur gear mount will slide off of the reduction shaft with ease when you pry up the top plate a bit. You have to keep the shaft riding in the bearing on the right carrier. Carefully lay the car back down, as to not cause the chains to fall off of the shaft, change your spur gear, then with your thumbs, lift the top plate back up and slide the spur gear mount back on. I can usually do this in a few minutes, but, yes, it can be a little awkward to do.
Shoot me a pm if you would like more details...I just rebuilt my Dominator the other day and did this very procedure without problem (but it has been a few years since the last time I did that)

Thanks for your help, but I am a little concerned about dropping the chain. I think 4 hands would be better. Since you are just about in my backyard, could we meet somewhere or something? Let me know. Thanks.
