WDRA Super Dirt Series Heads East for Double Dip

The 2007 WDRA Super Dirt Series moves eastward towards the Capital District to contest races 3 and 4. On Saturday May 19th, the series will find itself at the newly renovated Track at Competition Hobbies in Latham, NY. This is the home of one of the oldest RC clubs in the nation, the Capital District RC Racers, which has roots reaching back to the 1970s. On Sunday, the tour will return to Kirt Coonradt’s Pine Bowl Speedway in Nassau, NY. Pine Bowl is nestled in a grove of pine trees, which provide continuous shade and great racing conditions all day long.

Heading into Competition Jeff Hotaling and Chico Taylor are deadlocked atop the Big Block Modified point standings. Matt Olmsted and Bob Mott are locked up in a tie for 3rd and 4th in the standings, while Jason Blum rounds out the top 5.

Over in the Big Block Stock Division, Dylan Watier leads defending class champion Dan Gill by a scant 1 point. Bob Mott has possession of third, while Chico Taylor and Eric Beadle round out the top 5.

The Small Block standings show Mike Jeffery in the top spot, with a commanding lead over Rob Hillman and TJ Holt who are separated by just 2 points in 2nd and 3rd. Fourth is Henry Ketch Jr., with Warren Stevenson holding down 5th.

As always the Capital District regulars will look to defend their home track honors. Last year at Pine Bowl, Albany area favorite, and series sponsor Todd Putnam scored a second place finish in each Big Block division, while Chris Lorette also had a pair of top 5s. When the WDRA last visited Competition Hobbies in 2002, Dave Peek and Bob Hollner had 4th and 5th place finishes, as Terry Schmitt took one of his many series wins.

Each day, the tracks will open at 8:00am with the heats going off at noon. Competition Hobbies is located at 1006 New Loudon Rd (Rt 9) in Latham, while Pine Bowl is located at 471 Waterbury Rd. in Nassau, NY. Check http://cdrcracers.com/php2/index.php for more information and directions.

We regret to announce that we are forced to cancel the WDRA weekend in Albany scheduled for 19 & 20 May due to the poor weather forecast and our recognition of the major expenses that racers incur in travel and lodging costs.

This also includes all warm-up night races.

The rescheduling of this much anticipated weekend will be announced shortly after consultation with the WDRA officials as to the best fit into the already busy schedule.

We regret any inconvenience but have announced this as early as possible to minimize the impact.

See Ya………….Some Day………….At The Track
