WDRA Super Dirt Series Heads to Redneck’s Dungeon
The 2007 WDRA Super Dirt Series makes stop number 2 on Sunday April 22nd at Redneck R/C Raceway in Fulton, NY. Known as “The Dungeon”, Redneck’s subterranean indoor track is a small, tricky flat oval that tests the skills of even the best drivers.
Track regular and defending Modified Series champion Matt Olmsted has to be considered one of the favorites to find victory lane at Redneck. In the last WDRA series race at Redneck, Olmsted swept the Stock & Modified divisions, but got off to a rough start for 2007 at Radio Hill. 2006 Modified division runner-up Jeff Hotaling should also be considered a serious threat to win along with other track regulars like Chico Taylor, Dan Gill & Jason Blum. Current point leader Bob Mott is also a former track regular at Redneck and is expected as well.
Over in the Big Block Stock division, the same cast of characters, along with Shannon Pitcher should contend for victory lane honors, with 2006 Series Champion Dan Gill will look to improve on his 5th place finish last month at Radio Hill. Bob Mott is also the current point leader in this class, but an extremely talented field will be looking to take over the top spot.
In the Small Block division, Capital District driver Paul Moran is the current point leader, but it is expected that he’ll move to the Big Block division if he attends Redneck. Mike Jeffery is currently in second in points, and should be a contender along with EJ French, Joe Rodriguez and Cliff Weeks.
Doors will open at 8:00am with the heats going off at 11am. Redneck R/C is located at 120 Cayuga St in Fulton NY. There will also be racing on Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Redneck, comprising the Triple Crown Weekend.
