The servos on the min-t have 4 wires (orange, red, black, and white) Can u solder just a regular 3 wire plug on and leave the orange one just hanging there or do u have to have the orange one for it to work.

You have to replace the servo with a 3wire servo,Hitec,Futaba, etc. Most guys go to Hitec 85mg servo for steering, but you have to change ESC and receiver too!! I don't think there is an easy fix,I could be wrong, anyone??

I have 2 mini-T's and to do any electronic upgrades is painful...LOL.
In my brushless mini-t I use a Hitec HS-55. They are like $15 bucks. Work GREAT. Not a metal gear servo but I"ve beaten on mine all last year w/o trouble. Plus Team Losi has a direct fit Servo saver for this servo. It's a Losi Part that can be found on their website.
My question would be What do you want to do with it? Upgrade the ESC/ Receiver unit? or? If you just looking to replace the stock unit for whatever reason I have spares. If you want to upgrade then you'll need Receiver, Speed-control, and Servo...
From experience this is what I would do if I was looking to go faster. Upgrade to a 370 motor or maybe a 19T mod and also a 6-cell battery. That combined should be cable of Mid-20's in MPH. Better than the stock 16-18mph. If you really want to go fast start fresh with new electronics and go brushless. There's LOTS of them floating around online for like $75-$85. I run a Mamba Competition X. She'll hit in the mid 30's for MPH. No lipo's either. just a 1600mah 6-cell Nimh pack.
BUT. strenth of drivetrain w/ brushless is a problem. I've upgraded to: Aluminum Carriers, CVD's, (Bearings everywhere), Pro-ball diff, Aluminum Idler, steel top gear, Pro-slipper, and Tinity Spur gears. ALL are pretty much a MUST with brushless.
Sorry for the LONG reply but if you have any questions just ask. I've spent over $300 finding out what makes them go... (And what doesn't) aka. a $28.99 Trinity Mini-Monster Motor.... THE STOCK MOTOR WAS BETTER!

I took it out of my Mini-t the day after I got it. all stock connectors. $20 bucks shipped?
Let me know. I can snap a pic of it and e-mail it to you if you'd like...
