With the upcoming outdoor season fast approaching, available now from CustomWorks is the new "HB" rubber compound in the familiar Street Trac tread type. This compound is slightly softer in feel than the original Street Trac rubber that has been used so well at many tracks across the country. The "HB" compound has worked and outrun the HPI slicks at indoor tracks like Monee while still has great wear characteristics like the original compound on harder packed outdoor tracks.

catawissarcoket: Any fine hobby shop that carries CW products. If you are dying, direct from us at this time is best since it takes a week or two before a shop stocks up on new items.

As Arnie has already stated these tires are a little softer, yet not too soft .They feel like the tires that I massaged on and ran for years and they are right out of the package.I tried a set at Monee and they worked great.Thank's to Custom Works,They are always looking for and researching ,new ideas and improvements for upcoming products to make the best possible oval cars you can buy .At the track, you couldnt find a better bunch of guys who are always willing to help and offer suggestions to anyone to make their car handle better. Thank's - Dangerous Dave :p

I used the Custom Works new HB tires, front and rear, of my new Dynotech prototype sprinter this past weekend at Monee RC raceway(home of the HPI voodoo doctors).
A TQ and win for the new tires on a electric sprinter.
I used the tires in stock configuration with NO MODIFICATION done to them(no chems). I mounted the fronts on B4 rims with a full Custom Works gray rear foam in the front, in the rear I used a B4 rear wheel with a truck foam inside(white).
They had great bite and were very consistent lap after lap.

A B4 wheel? Are these new tires 2.0" or 2.2" I.D?
Chad, did you cut the beads off to mount them on a larger wheel than a stock CW 2.0" wheel??

These tires are still the 2.0 dia, I did nothing to the tire other than stretching them over the B4 wheels, no cutting, no sectioning, nothing!
The tires are so soft that they'll fit on these rims, as long as you put enough foam in them to keep them from cupping.
I put the tire on these rims because they ARE SO SOFT!
My thinking was that is the tire is to soft it will squirm in the center of the turm(high bite tracks), if you pre-stretch it, it would help tire growth and side wall squirm.
Tires worked great...no chems!
All you need to do is stuff it with enough foam and you're golden.
Just my view.
Jim and Kenny used them with the standard CW wheels with great success, I just didn't like the added effort of maknig them into slicks.
The tires I used had about 1/2 of original tread left.

As with the old tire, scuffing them in really helps alot then dropping new tires on the track. The easiest/fastest way I found is just go drive the car moderately on asphalt for a run or two making alot of left turns, and a few right handers every now and then. Not sure if it is the mold release junk you are cleaning off the tire or just getting the rubber to open up some but it works wonders. Even if you don't do this, seems it takes about 3-4 runs on dirt to get to the same point.
The tire likes Simple Green, great for cleaning the entire tire.
FX2 (White Can, NOT Traction Action) is great after that for addtional bite. On occasion I see this be less prefered for a track, just the simple green is best.
Insert wise, medium right sides and soft lefts seem to be a great starting point.
Some people prefer to run-in their rear tires till the tread is about gone to make a slick, this works well on very dust free tracks. (Like Monee when it is wet or B-n-J)
smitty: Kenny's way takes way too long, I prefer the parking lot next door to Monee! I would think your way (1/2 tread or just the ghost or it) would be better there overall.
