i have a gbx elec enforcer, and ive tried a new top shaft, new bearings, new roll pins, new slipper assy, custom works and klien slipper eliminator, and of course new spur gears and it just doesnt run true. I can still race but its a little noisy and I just think it should run true. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss on this one

Take a look at the motor/tranny plate.
I have a dd Enforcer and I burned up 2 spur gears before I noticed that the motor plate was bent in it. that may be a place to look.

motor plate is fine, sits flat on my granite block. that wouldnt cause the issue im having though.

I think maybe he was saying that your motor plate was not straight on the tranny. The Pinion and the spur have to be centered otherwise they will make a little noise. I made some spacers out of aluminum because the plastic ones were weak.

Maybe try a different brand of spur gear. I have found some brands tend to be more round than others. Otherwise it sounds like you already covered all your bases. Every tranny will run a little out of "true" due to tolerances on each individual part.

Thanks Higman, Yeah thats what I was tring to say and the same would go with a gear box car. The problem I had was the mesh was good on the outside but tight on the inside due to a twist in the plate and it wasn't much. Would be good for 1 heat but after that poof the disappearing teeth..lol

my spur gear wobbles it has nothing to do with the pinion or motor plate, ive tried everything, just seeing if the CW guys would post a solution or soemthing to try

I've had that problem before and the topshaft was bent a little. If it is you could tap on it to bend it back.

If your useing a Slipper Elim. They usually use a set screw, if you torque down too hard on the shaft, it can make a differance. I usually grind a flat spot on the shaft to help the set screw "seat". Other than that, I'm baffled. Cant imagine what else it could be. Just my 2cents worth.

Putting the spur gears on the sprint cars are a little hard. They do not leave you a hole lot of room between the cage and top shaft on the tranny. Make sure when sliding the gear into place that you don't use a lot of pressure on the gear. It don't take a hole lot of pressure to make them wobble side to side. I try to pull out on the cage when I'm changing my spur gears to try and avoid this problem. Make sure that the gear go's on the top shaft easy. Sometimes you will get some that will push on the top shaft a little harder. It makes for a good fit, but it can also cause the gear to wobble. Hope this helps you out. I have had the same problem with gears on my car.

Klein slipper eliminators are notorious for not sitting all the way down on the drive pin. If so the spur will have some wobble. The solution is a little filing to let the pin set fully in the groove. Careful though DO NOT file the bottom of the slot in the eliminator.

ive tried new shafts, and im currently running a klien slipper eliminator. the wobble is bad enough to where I have to be extremely careful setting my gear lash with 64p. doesnt seem to effect performance but just annoys the crap out of me, because it should run true.

Is your motor shaft bent causing the gear mesh to be hit and miss?

nothing to do with the motor. I can put a new upper shaft, pin, slipper back, all new parts, new gear and it wobbles, tried new spacers, trans case, new ceramic bearing in tranny too, put a dial indicator on the shaft it has has 0 runout so its in the attached assy, slipper is better than the slipper elimin though. i guess im going to try a stainless pin and have my own slipper elim assy made to exactling tolerances at a local machine shop and hope that works

Dynotech makes a very nice elim, one piece with a full circle pad for the spur to sit on.

try to clean out the center hole of the spur gear, I have found on a number of times that the slipper eliminator it's self is the problem

If youre referring to the Dynotech, look in the links. They are listed there. Part # 4105D, $18.00. For a GT tranny. Perhaps it will fit your application.
