I ask this all the time at the track but it never sinks in. Can some one tell me what raising/lowering, lengthening/shortening, moving it in/out/ up /down on both the shock tower and axel and rear hub carriers - I'm talking about the camber links and all those holes that are given for adjusment.

All those holes and adjustments affect roll center and camber gain. Both are very complicated subjects (at least to me). Generally speaking I find my cars work better with a higher roll center, and I am always playing with camber gain. I suggest you find some books on race car chassis dynamics if you want to understand them. Circle Track has some nice technical articles from time to time on these subjects.
