Hey gents,

I have an older DD Intimidator. I love the idea of the battery cradle, but am unable to get newer 3800/4200 batteries to fit properly in the existing cradle. Does CW make an updated part that is compatible with newer batteries, or is anyone aware of a mod that will allow me to use my 3800s without having to jam the pack in?

Thanks in advance

Without stepping on the toes of the CW guys, no, they don't have anything for current batteries, unfortunately. Personally, I don't think they should be selling parts in kits that in no way will work with contemporary electronics, but I do believe they are working on a solution. Battery slots in the chassis are the simple solve, but require an aftermarket chassis, or to wait for the new chassis from Custom Works.

There are some very simple and creative solutions in this thread (http://www.dirtoval.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18871&highlight=battery+mount), though.

Thanks for the tip Doug. I agree that it's somewhat cobbled, but yours looks very clean. C'mon Custom Woks...get with the times!

In the meanwhile, I'll start hacking up my stock battery tray!

Bikr:
i have talked to Rob Cutman before, and at one time, they had some prototye trays that were made for bigger batteries. these trays were flat on the bottom. for me they work great because i am running an Orion LIPO pack, but I think that the bigger batteries will also fit in them. just an idea. I believe that I had a thread about these before. it might be on another page. I would try and find out from Rob if they are selling them, he said that Kipp's might be selling them ,but i'm not positive about that. Hope that helps

Bikr here is the thread that i was talking about:

Bruce @ www.xtremercracing.com (http://www.xtremercracing.com). made us a carbon fiber chassis for the dominator. It has slots for battery placement from left to right for weight bias. He made us some battery mounts that allow you 3 choices of placement. You could drill your chassis and use these. I use them on my Dominator, Tc3 Latemodel and my CW sprint. You can space them off the chassis how ever high you need them, I use them with a 4800 Orion Lipo pack and they work fine. They work great on the flat chassis with no slots also. Hope this helps, check them out on his website.
