What exactly is the benefit if running the castor blocks different on both sides? I here that a GBX works best with a 15 and a 20 on it. I am curious why? Also why do other manufacturers not need to do this? Are the front geometries really that different? Also when you run the 15 and 20 castor block is there a need for camber settings or can you leave them at 0?
Thanks,

I'm not sure but I think less castor means more turn in and more castor means more turning off the corner.I guess you can also tighten the car up by doing the opposite. I think when you run castor split, say 20 left and 15 right, the right front helps get you in the corner and the left helps get you out.

By running less castor on the left side you are basically leading the left front by a few tenths of an inch (since the castor block does not lean back as far.) This makes the car get into the corners more efficiently. You will also have a little less camber gain under steering which tends to make the front end stick better.

So should the castor split be 15 on the left and 20 on the right?

More castor on the left front and less on the right front, will load the right rear quicker on entering the corner. this should make the car want to turn faster or easier into the corner. this will scarifice a little steering off the corner.

I've always ran more on the right. I used to do this when i raced go-karts. It makes it want to turn left without any steering input. Just about any oval racer in fullsize cars does that. I never have tried more on the left . I also like more castor on the right because it makes the car easier to drive into the corner. You can use less on the left because that tire isn't loaded as much.

Yes you are absolutely right.. more right front caster will dictate how quickly the right rear gets loaded.. the amount of left front caster determines how much the right rear gets loaded..IE more left front caster loads the right rear harder..more right front caster loads the right rear quicker..
