Last Time I Talked To Him, He Said He Was Taking A Break After The Open Wheel Race For A While. This Stuff Can Burn You Out If You Let It, I Know. I Have Only Race 2 Times Since The Open Wheel Race And I Still Want A Few More Weekends Off For Now, So That I Can Get Ready For The New Season.

I Have Not Talked To Him Lately, But I Would Not Be Suprised For His Hibernation To End At Feb. Freeze. I Doubt He Would Miss That Race. Again, Just Speculation!

I too am a bit stumped. I've been one of his best friends since we were 15 yrs old or so and he hasn't been in any contact with me or anybody else I know for any reason. It's a mystery for sure. I don't even get a "hey buddy what's up". He would normally call me to shoot the breeze about anything a couple times a week but not as of late. Must be brewing up something big.:confused:

I am fortunate to speak to Phil on a regular basis. He deserves some well earned rest, as he spends the majority of his time helping everyone else in the sport and working on his program last.

A normal night for Phil is to have one person on the phone, several he is communicating with on the computer, and usually working on a car, motor, or batteries at the same time and this is every night.

If anyone noticed at Coopers, Phil spent most of his time doing PR for Custom Works and just by his nature trying to help everyone. He spoke to each person in line by his pit during every controlled practice in addition to the everpresent visitor in his pit with an unending volume of questions. This, in addition to all of the cars that were delivered to his residence for attention before he left for the race.

On more than one occation during the Open Wheel Championship he moved his car aside on his bench to help another racer and that speaks volumes for the man and the representation he gives Custom Works and the sport.

Time for a break !!!!!!!

Hey RJ if you talk to him again soon tell him his cousin Joe says hi and just wanted to find out how his Holidays went and how him and minnie and mom are doing and to let him know how my surgery went and the problems I had after it...No RC talk involved just friendly chat!! I tried to call him a few times but havent gotten through..
