Doug, thanks for the great forum idea; it lets some of us "senior" racers go back to the "good old days." I need help in finding out all I can about the '93 champion in ROAR 4WD. Who, type chassis, where the race was held, etc.. Hoping someone has pics. or even an article in a r/c mag.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Sam

Thanks for the reply. I ran across a Protoform body that was labeled "1993 ROAR 4WD champ" and it made me curious.

Call Norris Cooper at 434-724-4182, the 93 Nats were held at Coopers & he has the winners listed on the wall. I ran for Protoform then & was lucky enough to win 4wd stock using a CW Dominator with the Protoform Vortex wedge. I'm not sure who won mod, I know Chris Smith, Kim Petticord & Kirby Hand were players in that one. Great Memories!

Craig Perry won 4wd mod in 93, my Dad Gary Warren won it in 94, both years the roar nats were at cooper's.

Thanks for the information. do either of you have any pics of the cars? Thinking about building a copy if I can get more info. What tires did you run, siliconed, rubber caps, or plain foam? Thanks, Sam

I ran pink foams on my dominator in 1994 to win 4wd mod.
I still have the car, but I think the body is gone.

Gary's 1994 body was a Bullet Wedge, greenish, orange comes to mind. I have it on video somewhere.

In 93 Perry won,but Chris Smith laid down a 45 lapper for TQ, at that time and up till a few years ago that was fast at Coopers. The track was a tad longer in the early 90's.

Speaking of hall of famers, anyone know what happened to Chris Dipple? I remember racing him at Cooper's in the early 90's and my pinion gear came off and he ended up going around me and winning. Needless to say, the pinion got loc-tite from there on out :)

Thanks,
ZuKi

Chris has been popping his head into Coopers every now and then to check out the big races. He has a family now and a big career....still think he has the bug a little just because he likes to look around and ask lots of questions about the new stuff. I still think that if he picked up a radio, he would be able to get around like he never stopped racing.
