Oh man, memories! I wish those scans were larger!
I think I'm in one of those photos of the 1/8th sprint series from Michigan or Illinois. :D

Twisted , the one page was the blueprints! I tried to build it but was not patient(spelling) enough to do it back then! I should take the blueprint to Roy(Moody) and see if he has one of these cars still around?

Roy has a museum of RC history in his basement, including all of those cars. A few of them hang on the wall at the track (picture shown previously). I ran one of those staple cars on a carpet road course once and it was a little on the unpredictable side as far as handling. It wasn't close to my 12L or Corally at the time, and was so odd to drive, I didn't spend much time with it. Roy still has that car with the body I painted, I'm sure. Neat design, though.
Those little electrics don't race anymore, though most of Roy's current cars are handmades. The 1/8th scale cars are still competitive. You can still get pretty much any of those old plans from Roy, and bodies, and just about anything else you would want. The Moody Automotive website is in the links, and has all of Roy's contact info on it.
Not much has changed with Roy since those articles in RCCA many years ago. ;)

yes Doug those were the good ol' days ..that RCCA had alot to do with the dirt oval craze. It used to frustraate me in the early 90's why they stoped doing many articles for dirt oval. The ONLY time I ever made it into RCCA was the 1992 "Buyers Gide" under Gas and electric cars.

Doug, I think I may still have that Mag in my old stash. I will try to dig them out this weekend and see If I can find it. If so, I might just mail it to you and that way you can get all the pics out of it you want.
