I was wondering if im doing something worng or are the cages getting more brittle, on my older electric cars the cages seemed to be more durable, but these new white ones are a lot less durable.

any ideas???

A simple trick I was taught was to not put the front chassis screws into the cage, that way there would be some give before destruction to the cage occured.

also i have been told even if you don't dye it, still boil the pieces for a few minutes

I have snapped dyed pieces b4, but you bet, dyed or boiled pieces last much longer than stock.

Put your cage pieces in a poly bag with some distilled water for a week or so before assembling it.

I know this feeling all too well!!! I am on my third cage since Sept. I boiled one, dyed another, and left the third one alone. Leaving the front cage mount bolts was the best thing that I could do to make them last.

I probably doesn't help that I am still new, and not a very good driver yet.

racing in the colder tempuratures also increases the chances of breaking parts.

Distilled water will absorb into the nylon much better than regular tap water. Don't ask me why, but it does. It may have something to do with molecular weight

Been in Plastic Injection Molding for 20+ years. Trust me, it works.

Can you still dye the cage after putting it in a ziplock of distilled water ? If so , would you do it before or after or doesn`t it matter ?

Thanks
Bruce

I would dye it first, then put it in a sealed ziplock bag with distilled water.
