I happened to find one new in the box for a pretty good price. Does anyone else remember this odd little car, besides me? Anyone still have one?

Hobena had one in the early 90's. TXO came out not long after and the Eclipse was short lived.

I picked up one of the Eclipse kits from Ebay - like Doug, I haven't assembled it yet BUT it was certainly a milestone back in the 'day'......
Anyone remember what body fit them? That's been one of the things holding me back as I don't know what to put on the car when I finish building it.....
Thanks!

I worked in the business back then and this car was promoted at the the time it originally came out as an full suspension on-road car, Hence the on-road wheels and tires in the photo. ROAR acted fast and added the "must be solid rear axle" rule for on-road classes instanly eliminating any need for any further advances in the on-road segment. The car was then tried as a dirt oval car but the Intimidator and other purpose built cars ended that too.
Merry Christmas everyone

I hope these images come up. I have one of these, and this is about how far I got putting it together. Sorry, only one of the four came up.

I've never heard of or seen them before...do they actually hook up? The closest I've seen to something like that was a custom deal where a guy ran a RC10 rear suspension and gearbox with a straight axle pan car front end....

Don't know. That is as far as I got with it. It is a direct drive car. as my pics show. I thought it was an interesting car kit, so I bought it, but never ran it.

I've got one of those.
I looked back in my records. I bought in Feb '04 for $33 shipped for the "pro" kit, no bodt or wheels. The guy on ebay was blowing out a ton of them. the description basically said many of the things that were included in this thread. he seemed desperate to get rid of them as he pointed out that the berings and hardware were worth more than the buy it now price. I built the car up but broke one of the outdrives trying to get the universals on. he was actually ince enough to send me in NIP set of outdrives.
I wound up doing exactly what the add said, I stripped it of the bearings(5x11 I think) and the diff gear/balls/rings and put the rest back in the box. I would up cutting up one of the upper shock stays to repair my helicopter. I've got the rest still in the box tucked away.
The seller on ebay was jjabs. he had a lot of the kits and plenty of spares at the time. no recent Ebay activity though.
If anyone is interested you could probably contact him to see if he had any more kits available.

Thought you guys would enjoy seeing this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-M-A-N-E-ECLIPSE-10L-1-10-PAN-CAR-RC10L-Reflex_W0QQitemZ260101100961QQcategoryZ19168QQrdZ1 QQcmdZViewItem) for a car that seemed to be fairly low tech. I never picked that other kit up—it didn't really hold any appeal to me.
Kinda funny how eBay can spike prices of stuff.
