Due to a situation out of our (the Pa Nitro Tour Committee's) control the race venue for May has been changed from Wiley's Rc Speedway to McCullough's Rc Speedway in Sarver, Pa. More details will follow about this race as fast as I can get updated on everything.

We want everyone to know this was a very tough decision to make and we are doing what we feel is right for you guy's as racers. We will not discuss the details of why this decision was made but we feel it was what was best for everyone involved. We wish Wiley's Rc Speedway the best and hope that they continue to have a successful racing season.

Maybe for some. I know guys that drive at least two to three hours to race on a weekly basis. We are a little spoiled around here to have so many tracks in a 50 60 mile radius most places do not have one track in that same area. We took into consideration the travel time and understand that some will not be able to make the trip. However we are excited about having a second indoor race so one good thing is we do not have to worry about the weather.......meaning if you choose to go you will not drive out there to get rained out.

So whats the problem with a 4 hour drive?

Just think its a 4 hour drive for a race that will not be canceled due to weather! The idea of the "Tour" is to expose people to new tracks....some people will not make that trip and we understand that...but on the flip side going out there has the potential to pull some Ohio racers and they too can get a chance to participate in one of our races.

AS A COCERN RACER I DON'T AGREE WITH CHANGING TO A TRACK THAT NO ONE WILL PROBABLY TRAVEL TOO ANYWAY. BECAUSE THE TRACK THAT IS BEING REPLACED IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST AND BEST TRACK AROUND AND WILL BE A HUGE LOSS TO THE TOUR. IN CLOSING I HOPE THE TOUR WORKS OUT BUT I WILL NOT RACE IN IT FOR GOOD REASONS.

Wow, there must be a pretty good reason for this kind of decision!! Especially to move a race 4 hours away. I understand that it's indoors, but it's still 4 hours away. That would mean that it's roughly 4 hours to get home, on a Sunday night, and some people have to work early monday morning. I unfortunately do not have enough vacation time to waste a day to take the monday off because we probably would not be home till after midnight.

So, since nobody else asked, I guess I will be the person to ask...what was so crucial that the tour, and Wiley's could not work something out???? I mean, the tour has asked the racers a lot of questions about rules packages and many other things. The tour usually seems to try and make as many people happy as they can, but the way it seems, that is not the case here.

Not sure about rules, but hopefully there is a drop race, so that the people that cannot, or refuse to make this race, can atleast drop the race without a penalty.

Thanks for letting me vent, I'm sure that I speak for alot of racers of the tour, whether they are new, or experienced veterans!!

By the way, the previous link to the new track site, doesn't work for me!!

Meghan,
its too bad you feel this way....but then again with you being new to dirtoval dot com it seems you may be either new to racing or have yet to pick up a controller, so you should maybe make the trip to McCullough's race track and try turning some laps with us before you get so opinionated!

I think that if the tour changed the Wiley's race, there must have been a good reason. The tour went very well last year and should be even better this year. Expsoing racers to new track is a good thing, yes it is a long drive for some, but they call it the PA Nitro tour not the central PA tour. Keep up the great work!

Lets break this down.

Wilies average weekly turn out is about 30 racers give or take a few. At $10 per entry thats $300 a week profit. the loyal racers will be there every week, and a good extra income for the track.

PANT makes a visit, brings approx 120 entries possibly more this year with the added class. Entry fee $18 for approx. $2,160.00 to the track for a days worth of track use.

Ok so the track owner doesnt want to pay the tour a racer fee of $3.00 per entry or $360.00, nor do they want to allow 5 guys to run ONE class for free $75.00 for a total $435.00 that the owner will not be able to put in his pocket out of the $2,160.00

But he will still profite $1,725.00 or $1,400.00 more then they normaly would have with out the tour. thats not including the food sales, and part sales that have now gone away with the tour race. i would guess this would be about another $1,000.00.

Im not a rocket scientist, nor a mathamatision nor can i even spell it:eek: but wow thats a lot of easy income to give up because you want to be greedy, or dont like another track owner.

side note these numbers are only estimates, and are in no way hard cut or exactly accurate, just my example of what a greedy track owner is willing to give up.

Well said Animal!!

Bill, I apologize in advance if anything "negative" was taken from my previous post. If I were to receive an email like that, I would have done the exact same thing!!

Now, knowing what I know, I will definitely try to make the race...perhaps a monday "sick day" would be in order!! HA HA HA!!

This sport seems more like a family, and "most" tracks that you go to race...you don't have to belong to "the clic"!! The track owner that you speak of has been nothing but helpful and devoted to try and help out "newbies" like my wife and I. I personally can't ask for anything more. I'm sure that you have your select few people that you are the same way with, but we will not be one of them.

These comments are in by no means a way to bash anybody that has raced at Wiley's now or in the future. The comments are strictly my opinion, and mine only!!

Hey guys! Just this evening I spoke with the owner of Mcculloughs Offroad, Doug Mccullough, and he is very excited to host the race. The indoor facility that will house the Dirtoval Track will be set up with his current Winter Season, Off-Road Track until mid April. I'm not sure why his new web-site is having problems, but if you scroll down the page on his older site you can see picts of the indoor Off-Road Track/Building. There are a few people that will be helping construct the oval that are very knowledgeable on Dirtovals, and I will assure you there will be an excellent racing surface. I just found out about the race this evening, and I'll check back when I have some more details. Thanks!

Bill please let me know on the decision on wheel rule I'm putting my list into santa and he needs to know what wheels I need

Greg,
At the meeting we discussed the wheel issue...since custom works is about the only one that makes the 2.0 wheel in mass we are going to allow the 2.2. We should have the few rule amendments posted soon....

I did not mean to sound negative just its hard for some to go that far on a Sunday with work. I may be wrong but don't the point seasons start in June around here at most tracks? just a question. How about a poll on making this a sat race it may increase the turnout.

Ok here i am, LOL, this should be good,
ALAN when was the last time you had a "significant" car count? i do not mean 10 1/8th scales on a wednesday either, So anytime you have the chance to get a car count like the Tour offers, you think you would be willing to bend over backwards to have a crowd like that,

As for traveling out to Sarver, if i remember right the name of our tour is the PA NITRO TOUR and Sarver is in PA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so you have to drive a few hours, car pool,
welcome to the Tour McColloughs, i will be there

the way i see it you have
Staub's-- raciest "track" on the tour
LV--nicest facility on the tour
Newville- The best weekly competition
Bumps--best surface
T&L-- suprised if it opens by july
Wileys-- longest straights on the tour
McColloughs-- willing to put in an extra effort to host the largest active TOUR in the country, no where in the US is there a better car count for a "TOUR' than PA, so i find it hard to feel bad for Wileys at this time,
no other state has the quality of tracks that we have around here, NY has an abundance of tracks but not the quality we have, And i would like to see it grow more also,
My name is Nick DeAngelis
