Can any of the CW guys with access to the entire body lineup tell me which wedge bodies will fit on a GBX Intimidator properly (low) without cutting out and relieving the hood for shock tower clearance? Specifically, the Bullet wedge, but others, too.

Doug:
from what I know of the CW GBX Intimidator, the wedge body is the one that all of the racers near me suggested running. I don't think that they had any trouble running that body on the car. In fact that is the body that I plan on running, once my local track starts running the Outlaw / Late Model Class.

Thanks,

Which wedge body, though? Most that they sold were considered "wedge" bodies...

Though I don't really race anymore, when I did many moons ago, I ran for Brian and Jerry.

I haven't looked at a GBX Intimidator as I never ran gearbox, but I assume the front end geometry is the same is the DD Intimidator.

The Bloomquist Wedge will fit: Great looking body, but can be a little heavy.

The Bullet Wedge has awesome downforce and was very popular as well.

I believe the Pro-Mod (Lumina and T-Bird) should be fine, but they are low on downforce; especially on the back of the car.

The Open Comp Camaro (Original Dominator Body) might fit.

I don't think the Rocket Wedge will fit.

Probably want to look at the Bloomquist or the Bullet as they were both designd for the 2wd car.

I use bullet wedges. I have used bloomquists. There the coolest.. There was about a dozen of us in southern illinois racing latemodels with wedge bodies. With a brushless system the GBXs ROCK. Im workin on mine now to run this saturday at newberrys.

I'm wondering about the fit on the GBX car because the front shock tower is much higher with the TC shocks and shock tower. That's the problem. A Rocket Wedge does NOT fit properly on the chassis without holes in the hood, that is true.

I think I'm most concerned about the Bullet Wedge, as that's the one I plan on buying for the GBX chassis I have here... if that will clear the tall front shock towers on the GBX car with foam tires, then cool. I just wanted to verify for sure.

Doug,

I understand what is going on now. The rocket wedge has a really low nose so it is no surprise that it doesn't fit. I would think you would be fine with the bullet wedge, but I do understand the trepidation of ordering without knowing.

I would give Rob a call and ask him if you dno't get a response on here.

Here's something that may help: I haven't held a GSX, but does it have the same shock tower as the GBX? If so, do you know what bodies they were running at the Open Wheel Champs? That might give you some guidance.

I am not positive if the front shock tower on the GSX, but my guess is that most guys ran the Eldora body, if not the McAllister or Factory Works late models.

Hopefully the CW guys will be back around a computer today and can give a definite answer.

Doug,
Me and a group of guys all run the bullet or have before on our GBX's. It fits fine, though we had them so low that the tower touched the bottom of the body.

We just added a small peice of tape to keep the paint from rubbing off and let er eat.

Later,
Daniel
