I am building a pro car and want to know what other CW parts are needed besides the tranny? I know 2 of the CW little blocks (#2224 I believe) I have the terminator front end parts already and the tranny and the GBX rear arms and arm mounts (0-2 degree).Just curious about the traany mounts and such... Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

jimmy...i believe its the same as a custom works car on the rear end. if u look at one of those it should get u going in the right direction.

You will need the entire CW GBX rear end, with the exception of the lower tranny mount plate, as the Pro car doesn't use that plate (#2220). You will need a second #2224 Top Plate Block to mount the rear shock mount to the bottom of the chassis.
Considering Todd is a one-man-band at Putnam Propulsion, you're going to have to give him a least more than 24 hours to respond to posts in this forum. Unlike me, Todd doesn't sit in front of a computer all day (luckeeeeee). ;)

Jimmy: Doug is correct. You need the complete GBX rear with the exception of:
-the rear graphite shock tower (we include an upgraded tower in the kit)
-the aluminum brace that goes beneath the trans and rear toe blocks (that is eliminated)
The only additional CW part needed is an additional #2224 aluminum bracket. This mounts connects the bottom of the rear shock tower to the chassis after the aluminum brace is eliminated.
Doug is also correct with regards to my response time. I'll get on here as often as I can, but it will be once a day at best. If it is ever urgent, don't hesitate to call me at the shop M-F, 9-5 EST. (518) 452-0422

Matt: Thanks for listing the CW part #'s...that's a big help.
Jimmy: You'll need a set of CVD's as well. #CW 7210. Also, you'll need (4) 3/16 x 3/8 unflanged bearings, (for the rear axles) if you don't already have them.

can I get a guesstimate how much $$$ to put one of these cars together? I saw Dougs and I'm impressed...the LHS is running CW and I want to show them you don't have to follow the herd! Have a Cobra Nemisis and plan on running that a little while putting together a sprinter and EDM....

Johnboy, to build one, and build it right...your looking at somewhere around $650-750 for a roller, give or take. Keep in mind....when I say build it right...I mean purchasing the best of everything. Also remember that with the exception of the pro car, which is a partial conversion for the CW GBX (partial meaning that you still need to purchase front end components), these cars are pieced together. If you have an old RC10 B2 or B3, then the conversion will cost you a bit less because you already have the transmission, bearings, cvds, and about half of the tierods.

I just put together a relatively complete list of EVERY part used in building the Putnam Pro-Car that I raced last weekend.
I pulled the street prices off of my list, just for the sake of putting together a complete list for this car. The way I did it, the listed prices from many of their online sources totaled exactly $900 for a VERY complete roller minus servo, receiver, transponder, ESC and motor, but that takes into account parts and pieces that I already had in the toolbox and didn't need to buy for the car, like tires, shock springs, and stuff like that. You could probably do it cheaper, depending on the parts you decide to use (hint: buy stuff used), and you can definitely sink more cash into the car, using the new CW machined diff cases and things like that. You could knock off ~$150 off of my final price by using Associated TC shocks, standard diff balls, B3 rear arms, a used Stealth tranny and a few other places to cut corners safely. Then again, if you've "got a guy," you could get off for a lot less than that, too. ;)
Yes, it's sick cash for an electric car, but when you're done, you'll have one of the finest dirt oval cars ever conceived. If I may make a suggestion, though, DON'T EVER sit down and add up how much money you spent on any particular R/C car or hobby. It will definitely make your stomach ache. And whatever you do, don't let your wife see the spreadsheet. :o

Thanks guys...That's really what I needed to hear, the CW and AE parts...Like I said, just saw the chassis on there and didn't have a clue as to what to make it complete. Doug, you spoke the gospel truth, I try never to add up any of my stuff...now with that said, I'm going to have to take this thread and burn any shred of evidence, caught the wife looking at my "wishlist" on towerhobbies.:D

Doug, not that it does you any good now....but if you had gone through Redneck RC....you wouldve saved at least $150
Doug Carter

Those prices were street prices that were calculated to give a general idea of how much it would cost to build a car like that as a complete roller, not best sale price on every component. Some items like a complete B3 gearbox can be had far cheaper than the $95 retail price that CW gets for one. I didn't pay full price for a lot of items, and didn't need to buy a lot of it, but I also purchased most, if not all of the parts needed on my car from DirtOval.com advertisers and forum supporters. That's more important to me than the best deal, sometimes. RedneckRC doesn't advertise or support the forums here, so they aren't one of my first choices.
Though, I would be interested in knowing where their prices would have been lower on many of the items in that list. $150 from a $900 car is a big leap. Show me...

Well, Shannon Pitcher recently put together a car...Ill try to see if I can find all the old invoices....granted, it was a Pro-Terminator, not a Pro-Car, and he had a few other choices in the lines of brand of parts used, but it was considerably cheaper.
As far as advertising on here.....shoot me an email at matto29@yahoo.com with all the info regarding that.....and a price.....

Well just picked up a Kranzels Term today. Well let me be honest, the wife says "Stay off Ebay!" But I just got my buddy hooked on R/C and he's been ordering up trucks and stuff. So I worked a deal with him to pick it up for me and I'll give him my "allowance" every payday....Pretty sad but effective.
