I'm stationed in Ft. Stewart, GA and when fixin' to leave for Iraq. When I return, the wife says I can get back into dirt oval racing...I found one track in Pooler, Ga. I saw under R/C car action there was a track in Jacksonville....I tried calling the number but it was disconnected. So I'm asking who's the closest to me!!! I hope to find some tracks within an hour away.

last i knew the jacksonville guys were talking about possibly building a dirt oval, but i dont believe it ever happened. if i'm not mistaken they have an offroad and run a temporary on road track in a lowes/home depot parking lot.

the closest dirtoval in florida to you would be ocala/newred hobbies, which will still be quite a drive for you.

there are a couple tracks in ga i believe, not sure how far they are from u.

what class do u plan to run in? i ask because not all tracks around here run the same classes.

Being in Ft. Stewart I'd assume you meant Jacksonville Ga. We here in Jax. Fl. have not had a dirt oval in 6 or 7 years. We once had two really nice ones. For you, The indoor track in Pooler would be the perfect place. Although I have not been up there yet, I hear it's a fun little(emphasis on small) tight hard clay track that is real fast.

Anna, Anthony and Scott are all good people, Give them a ring or on the web at www.anthonysvictorylane.com (http://www.anthonysvictorylane.com)

Oh yeah, Hi Larry!

Well looking at RC car action, they showed a track...think it was called Dirt Expo. I've been to the track in Pooler. Yes, it is very small. I ran a track like that in Watertown, NY years ago and it proved to be a basher track. Kind of like watching Bristol. Wasn't a big turnout last time I went but I believe the track is still new. I want to run 2wd sprint and 2wd EDM. I plan on running there since it's the closest track. I want to look for other tracks as well.

I started racing in Fulton, NY when Alan Lane owned A&S Hobbies. Ran with Jan, Shannon and Jim that's members on here. Ran out at Competition Corner some. Around 95-96 started racing at some track in a guys garage. Can't remember where that was. But the kid I went with was pulling some shady stuff. Think he was stealing some parts because there was an incident when I tried making a trade with a Novak ESC I got off him with another racer. I left the scene right there...went back to Missouri. I had no proof and if it was a stolen ESC, then it was in my posession. But we came up from Fulton and ran the track in Watertown. If you know Randy D that ran there and Chipmunk Hill, he was the one that got us started in the sport. I need to track him down about that deal as well.....

There is a race at AVL in Pooler, GA this coming Sunday Dec. 2. Track opens at 10:00am and racing starts at 2:00 pm. This place is absolutely awesome to race at, the people are great and the competition is fantastic.

Cecil you are correct about the track in Sumpter as well, both places are great to race at. I'd like to get back to Sumpter but they are having weather issues and race more often on Saturdays and I work then. Whatever you do just get out there and race and tell your friends to race, and your family to race, then tell your friends to tell their friends and their family to race. Spread the Virus!!!!

04exterra,
What tracks do you run? Do you just run AVL? You mention Sumter. Are these the closest tracks?

As of late I have only been running at AVL but that is only because Sumter has had weather issues and time conflicts. Yes these are the closest tracks to me but I live in Augusta, as far as any other tracks in Florida I am not sure. I can tell you this, 4wd latemodel is the hot ticket at AVL and Sumter, both tracks are smooth enough to run touring car chassis and that is a HUGE plus.

I thought there was a track in your town? Augusta? I'm partial to open wheel cars but yeah, I can see myself wheeling a late model. Tim McCreadie did it, I can too....:D although he better represents Watertown, NY. I'll swing up to the track sometime this month. About halfway through this course and since the wife is in her third trimester, we're not driving back to Missouri for the holidays. Then we don't leave for Iraq till mid January. I'd like to try to get some more info and set ups on the 4wd cars....too bad I couldn't convert my CEN CT4S to electric and take some laps...:(

We have a couple of nitro 4wd Late Models here in Sumter. We would welcome all the Nitro 4wd car we can get. We run outdoors and have a great track! Ask anyone who has raced here.

We are going to have a set race schedule for next year, it will be posted soon.

Adam, just for you we will try to have more Sunday races. I like Sunday races myself! Especially when the days are short.

But I like those Saturday night under the lights races when the weather gets hot.:skull:

I'll give you all the info I can. I run electric 4wd Latemodel, mostly. There can't be that much difference.:skull:

Ok, so the offroad track I built here in Iraq has shown some interest. I have been told that the Brigade Sgt Major will let us build a track on Ft. Stewart. I'm going to continue to try to get a track built there. I hope to one day have a dirt oval track as well...maybe even get it on the FDOS!
