SRP 1980's Dirt Oval Racing Car

I have a SRP Dirt Oval Racing Car built in the late 80's out in California. It was designed to compete with the Cuistom Works Dominator and looks very much like it... It is still very competive today.... I am trying to find out if the company is still in business and where i can get parts?

This is right up Doug Carter's alley, he's an avid SRP-1 fan from way back. If not mistaken, I think they've been out of business for quite awhile. Whatever parts you need, you're likely going to have to look at finding via eBay or some of the crowd here. I'd ask in Classifieds. Otherwise... you're probably going to have to look at either retrofitting, using replacement parts that work on all manner of kits (i.e. see if you can get a Custom Works Dominator part to fit), or contacting someone like Dynotech or a local machine shop to fabricate you a replacement.

Definitely out of business. Good luck on finding parts. If you want to sell it let me know. I raced Dom's for many years, but would love to have an SRP to put in my collection.

Well, there is a company that was recently still producing carpet oval cars under the name Superior Racing Products. I haven't attempetd contacting them ever, because I don't know for a fact if they still exist, or are even the same group of people who made the SRP-1. My hunch is that ths carpet company is still around, but it is not the same people. As far as getting parts from these original cars, good luck.

Finding parts for the cars is a lost cause. I have been on a constant search for parts and cars for about 6 years now, with few scores to report on. Every once in a while, some minor parts will pop up on eBay, but the seller usually thinks that they are made of gold or platinum for some unknown reason, and starts their pricing WAY into unreasonable numbers, like the $19 chain guide from about 9 months ago. Parts and cars are not easy to come by, that is for sure. I am always on the lookout, and cars or parts RARELY, if ever, come up in any usable condition. Most cars that I ever see are the early-to-mid 90s models that have Delrin-arms, with asymmetrical LTO and carbon-woven parts. The original chassis, like the one below, are rarer than hen's teeth.

As you know, many drivetrain parts are similar if not identical to Custom Works Dominator parts, which can still be purchased new. I recently sold a second car I had been restoring, in order to focus on my primary project. I have also created scale drawings of the chassis parts in hopes of working with a carbon fiber company to cut replacements for other restoration projects, but that has been put on hold, too.

The car below is aon original '89 chassis, and has been moved further along since the photos below (which most of you have seen before in the original restoration thread). It now has an original Novak T1x ESC, Novak NER1 receiver, Futaba era-correct steering servo, a Twister 11-turn single wind motor, and Team Smooth SCE 7-cell battery pack. Once the body is painted up, I will have to take some more pics of the final piece.
