Paint them yourself. I used to pay guys to paint my bodies. I got tried of paying to have a body painted and in a few weeks have it torn up. I started painting my own with spray can paints. I now have a compressor and an air brush. My latest creation is a Bulletproof sprint car. You can see it in the Reader's Rides section under "my new Bulletproof car". Painting is not hard. I have only messed up one body out of the many that I have painted so far. I paint bodies for the local guys, free of charge. Give it a shot. I recommend using liquid mask on the inside of the body, masking tape leaves a residue that is a pain to clean up. Besides with liquid mask you can make intricate designs. Make sure you cut "all" your lines before you start to paint. I had to learn the hard way.

wow its weird why have i never heard of this liquid mask stuff? Where can i get it? I'd paint more intricate designs on my bodies if i have a masking material that worked better than tape...

Megasaxon ask your LHS about BOB DIVELY liquid mask. There is another brand out there I just can't remember the name now. I use the LM on alot of my bodies and you can do some interesting layouts with it. JUST remember when you use it let it dry from the pale blue liquid color to an translucent semi see through greenish blue color. Once it's dry enough to cut use a new exacto blade and just enough pressure to cut just the dried masking. To much pressure and you could have a score in the lexan and they lead to premature body failure. Trust me on this I have had one or two bodies breal right where two colors meet IE: where I cut the LM for the paint. Fianlly don't be afraid to really coat the body with this stuff, the thicker the coat the easier it is to get back off.

Good luck with your painting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When using liquid mask, more is better. When I use it I brush it on (it can be sprayed on too). i usually brush on 2 or 3 coats letting it dry completely between coats.

There are also pre-cut masks out there that work quite well. I have used masks from both Parma and XXX-Main and both have worked well. When using pre-cut masks you have to make adjustments to them sometimes to make them work. When I have used the masks to paint flames on the front of a truck body, I have had to cut the flames into small sections to get the mask to lay nicely on the curves.

XXX-Main also offers internal graphics and Lexan Picture Glue. I have tried the lexan Picture Glue and it is fairly easy to use and is a neat way to add something extra to your car or truck body.

Here are a few links:

Here is a truck body that I painted fpr someone at my local track. The Matco Tools on the hood is vinyl, but the logo below it was done using the XXX-Main picture glue. It is a picture that was glued to the inside of the body before painting. Also on that body I used XXX-Main flame masks.
