Car looks pretty good man, only thing i dont like is the contigency decals on the front ears(fenders, in front of tires) real latemodels dont put em there cuz the ears take a beating on track usually, and they are plastic and the decals dont stay too well. Just my $0.02. Other than that it looks sweet!

Nothing wrong with a sticker car. Decals can make a basic paint scheme look great, and this is an example. Nice car and good design.

Great looking car, good sponsor theme, very authentic, ..and if you run out front the decals on the ears will be safe!

I think Mega was just offering a suggestion. Mega and a few others on here came from the online racing skin painting world (i.e. Slingindirt.com and formerly Dirtwizard.com), and over there we tend to get a bit fanatical about realisms with regards to intricate details like that. Some examples would be:
We try to never put decals on the lower plastic trim cladding. On real cars if you get the car to roll over, it tends to scrape them off.
Some will put decals on the elephant ears/floppers (a/k/a front fenders) but it's not a common practice as a rule on the real full scale cars because if you get into anyone the decals scrape right off and tend to look bad. Some of the big dogs do it however (i.e. Billy Moyer does quite often), but as you noted iamsam... if you run out front, less of an issue, esp. when you have multiple cars and a full-time crew at your disposal. ;)
So it's stuff like that, that guys like Mega, Panther (who letters full-scale cars), and some of the other dual sport online/RC (and even full-scale in some instances, as in all 3) racing guys are probably apt to mention. We have a general rule to try to critique each other to make things better rather than detract from one's work by negative comments, so it's basically just something to take a positive spin out of. In fact, some of our online painters... like for example, Adam Zuidema (a/k/a Solo; who also does printed and cut vinyl) live off of it and hate to just hear "Good job". It doesn't always work out that way as we do have some bad seeds that like to cause drama by being negative and asinine, but we try our best to keep positive discussions over there. Mega's usually one of the better one's at offering a critique without getting negative. I just felt like it might be best if I explained that as some might misunderstand the light that Mega was shedding.
I just wanted to say nice ride Bruce. Got me itching to get me a pair of TC3's (one for my dad, one for me) and give it a go with a pair of late model bodies. I've gotta' see about translating my SAS Heat scheme over to lexan one of these days. I think it'll just add one more dimension to it when I can hold it in my hands when done. That's something the online racing lacks.

thanks for the backup marcus lol. but ya sry if it sorta came off wrong or anything, just sorta in my nature now lol. I hate when i cant find much to say about a skin/paintjob/whatever other than a "Good job" or "It looks nice." It the Heat world comments such as mine and marcus' are wut make mediocre painters/skinners into top notch artists. Tho there is such a thing as some ones own style, lol and after taking a second glance at the car you intended to mimic, to be accurate in that you had to put contigs on the ears.
As i said it does look pretty good, not a huge fan of asphalt look-a-likes, but great job, i think you came about as close as you could to Gary's!

Wasn't meant as a dig, just my feeble attempt at humor.

:D S'okay iamsam, I wasn't necessarily thinking of it as a dig... just wasn't sure if Mega was being fully understood or if he was being interpreted as making a dig himself. It's so hard to gauge one's demeanor or personality over a computer, whether biting sarcasm or lighthearted humor, it can sometimes be a fineline. Lord knows I've had a few take me the wrong way for much the same thing. LoL
Mega's pretty laid back and is a pretty positive influence when he's not crankin' 'bout post lengths or letting one of the peeps on Slingin wind him too tight. ;) :D He's also really good at taking/giving criticisms/fresh ideas or offering room for improvements to others. I've seen him come onto the scene and constantly improve since he came 'round, and he's been a real asset to the online racing community. Through the means given to him, he's thrived off of it and tries to repay everyone with the same level of respect. I definitely think he'll provide much the same over here with the passion he's got for RC too. :)
I tend to agree with the original presumption by Mega though. I usually avoid to putting any form of contingencies on the fenders/ears. One of the things that a lot of the online guys fell into is this principle of doing replications that better themselves compared to the original. They may not be exact in every way, but they have enough of a personal interpretation to the artist's liberties that they sometimes are an improvement over the original. That's largely left to interpretation and your mileage may vary. I know I did an online racing interpretation of Bob Pohlman Jr.'s (nephew of Ken Pohlman of RC and full scale racing fame) late model from 2004 and while it was probably 98% accurate to the real car based on photos, I took the 2% and deviated a little because I didn't like the original headlights.
I was thinking about it... and was wondering if there wasn't room for a segment on here where people could hash out color scheme ideas and share them with one another for potential dirt oval body paint schemes? Whether that'd be a Reader's Ride deal or something like "The Paint Booth" or something... it might spark some inventiveness amongst everyone. Dunno what everyone else thinks about that, but you'd obviously have to limit your drawings/renderings to a set size/number of photos for showing or link off-site to a place where people could download or view the photos if they're large. I think it could be fun to do and something to at least pass the spare time (not as much as it used to be, sadly LoL), for me at least, 'til I can get my TC3's I am itching for. LoL

That sounds like a killer idea marcus, a lil forum where people could express there ideas for there next scheme and maybe get sugguestions on wut might improve it and take it from "Just another car on the track" to "That sick looking car that guy drives". I might be able to make some templates of some sorta that people could print or wutever that they could draw out there ideas on or maybe use a painting program on there computer to design something to see wut it might look like... IDK tho wut does everyone else think?
