On the electric kit Koo57, would a B3 really be all you need to complete it? Its hard to tell from no pictures.

Any info on these kits in general?

You have to have a 2.25:1 transmission.

is that a GT tranny?

why does the ratio matter?

why couldnt you just use a B3 or a B1 tranny? I would find it pretty odd to have to use a GT trans. What arms are used?

2.25 tranny is the original 3 gear stealth transmission 2.40 tranny is the b2 or b3 transmission and the gt tranny is 2.60 i beileve.

Hope this helps

The tranny must be a 2.25:1 tranny because of the car being designed around its mounting holes. All of the associated trannies have different cases with different holes.

So basically this is all I would need to change to go with full B3 parts? I have a CNC here and could do that with no problem.

The bottom plates are now made out of carbon fiber, the pic looks like aluminum. Any worrys about spending $400 on a car that is based on pretty darn old kit parts? Why don't you ever see klein cars for sale used? I am new to oval and trying to get my arms arround the deal. Thanks

I dont doubt the cars holding thier own on the track, and the kit is $150 if you already own a RC10. Not seeing any for sale used may be a good thing.......

guess so but Mr. Klein says the reason they use the original stealth trans is the others don't do well if you want to build a mid engine car.

I cant see why it would matter, you can get the same gear ratios and you can mount a new T4 trans on it any way you want.

Duno I am a computer geek by trade and drive Losi stuff so you could tell me just about anything you wanted to about Associated and I would believe you. We plan on becoming a Klein dealer and is just what Dennis said. Figure we will stick with the party line until we become a little more educated on the whole deal. I would think if you have a cnc you could make the bottom plate bolt up to any trans you want.

There is alot more to it than just adding a few holes to the chassis. You have to redesign the rear end to swap the transmission over to a B2,B3,T3 or a B4,T4 tranny. You have to think about the rear bulk head, and transmission brace between the bulkhead and transmission which gives TONS of structural strength to the rear end. Not to mention, the rear tower is designed to be used with the particular bulkhead.

My question for you, why do you want to run a different transmission?

Why do you think there is something wrong with the 2.25 tranny?

Do you really think the 2.6 T4 B4 Tranny is better?

If you are going to do all that work, why not just use the 2.4 tranny? It is THE BEST tranny available.

Dennis Klein makes quality cars. He spends countless hours on R&D. Trust his work and dont try to reinvent something that you havent even tried.

I know that I don't know enough to start mucking around with custom stuff. We will be going with Klein stem to stearn.

You won't be disappointed with Dennis' cars

I agree completely, I wouldnt bother changing it myself.

as far as bracing, etc. I could figure that out without a problem. I may possibly build my own sprint when I get some spare time, I am sure I can build something to run with the best of em.

as for credentials...here is some of my work....
this is a full custom 1/8 electric monster, using lightning stadium arms and diffs.

As far as the trans case goes,to turn a tranny around you need to flip the top shaft over and bolt the motor plate on the other side. The 2.25 may be a slight compromise but is made to be flipped over.It also has a flat bottom. The T4/B4 trans case does not allow the motor plate to be bolted flush on the other side. The b3 trans does not have a flat bottom(or the T4/B4) so you would need some sort of cradle or adapter to properly support the tranny like the parts in the HB30 kit.Hope this helps......

If you have a RC10, the Klein chassis kit, electronics, tires and motor what else do you need to complete a car? Are the shock towers, rear bulk head and carriers etc the same as on a stock RC10 ?

if you have an RC10, all you need is the kit. It comes with towers.
