Hi All, i just purchased an old steel framed sprint car chassis.
The chassis has old rc10 suspension components.

However, there is a gaping space where some steering linkage should be and there doesn't seem to be any mounts to secure a transmission other than a base that holds the rear arms in place.

Can any one provide some pics that shows how a rack suspension might be applied as well as a good mounting system for a b3 transmission?

thanks in advance!

Cant help ya on the steering but I did see a car like what you describe a very long time ago and what it did for the tranny was to use the entire rear section of a fiberglass or graphite chassis so that tranny and rear suspension were raised up in the car. The tranny mounted to the plate like it normally would. As a matter of fact it used the whole rear of a chassis so that the bulkhead was there too so the rear shock tower had somewhere to go. That thing was heeeeaaaavy and never was built into a running car. Looked cool though.

I had a B&R sprint car like that. The tranny set mid motor and the steering linkage set on a plate connected to the battery box mounts.Hope this might help.

I thought the B&R the steering was on rods were direct. I know mine was right off the servo saver. They had a piece of 1/4 plexi glass for the gearbox and rear arme to mount on. The rear shocks, at the top, mounted to adjustable blocks on the upright tubs. The front, i think it was fiberglass. Seemed like it was 1x2.5 or something like that. Of course I had a B&R back in 1990. So that was a long time ago. I do remember on a loose track it would fly. On a hard pack I could never get it to hook up.

Thanks for your help guys.

I think that I have the tranny figured out by adding a bulkhead brace to the plexiglass plate on the bottom of the chassis.

The steering is still a little tricky as there are no mounting locations for the servo.

I am trying to use a steering rack like the one shown on this page

I assume the linkages that go to the wheels attach to the ends of the bar, but how does the servo control the sliding arm?

any help would be appreciated

for you steering slider should have a 3ed hole for a ball stud or a small bolt to go in to. if not, use one of the other holes and run a bolt thur the servo link and the link that gose to the wheel.

in this scenario, does the servo stand upright? or upside down?
i don't think it would work the typical way laying on its side.
