I need some calarification about the rear wheel and tire rule on the nitro sprint. I believe the rule states 1.750" max width and my question is.....does the width apply to the tire tread or the wheel itsself? The rules do say you can run a rear truck wheel (which is 2" wide)but does it have to be cut down or if the tread of the tire is equal to or less than 1.750" is it ok not to cut the wheel down? For example, at our local track (loose dirt track) alot of us run truck rear wheels with "treaded" buggy tires on them and yes the wheel is 2" wide but the tread pattern on the tire itself is only 1.750" and the rest is just sidewall that does not contact the ground or provide any traction. Would this be considered "legal"? I can understand if the tire is a "slick" stretched over a 2" wide wheel then more than 1.750" of that tire may provide traction and not be legal but on a treaded tire, if the tread width is only 1.750 wide anyway, is it legal to run it on a "uncut" truck wheel? By the way, I understand the cars will still have to meet the overall width rule of 10.125" and that is not a problem even with the truck wheels. Our track is looking to get DODC sanctioned to have a race here in October and I wanted to get some clarification on this rule. Thanks for any info.
