Our offroad racing club is looking into building a new dirt oval. None of us are oval guys, so we're not sure on dimensions. What dimensions are ideal for a dirt oval, mainly for nitro, lengths, width, degrees of banking, type of dirt, etc... We're wanting to attract some oval action and of course give us an excuse to buy another car! Any advice or suggestions from some hardcore oval racers would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!

In the Southwest, 240'-250' driveline (board/board outside dimentions approx 60'X120'), medium banking, clay surface, packed.
If you go with a loose track make the surface loamy with little/no sand. If it ever blue grooves it will EAT rubber tires.
In Dallas, Indy is around 290', Bill's is around 250'. Mania in Phoenix is about 245', and I would guess Monee to be around 200'-220'.

Here in North Carolina, We just finished our dirt oval. It's 260 centerline with 18 to 20 feet wide lanes and about 10 degrees banking. Not to mention that good ole carolina clay. We run mostly 1/8 scale late model and 1/0 scale sprints. Check it out on our (very) new web site. www.nitrovalley.com (http://www.nitrovalley.com) BEAMER

bunked or flat, tight or wide, i guess it depends on the preference of the existing racers who are going to race at your planned track. i think it's always very important to get their input since they are the ones who will support the track the most.
anyways, if you need fast top of the line novarossi motors and sprint race cars, check out www.kleinrcmotorsports.com they carry all the parts also. once you get your track done, the gas sprint car is the hot class.
good luck!

Try to keep the track under three hundred foot center line. Make the corners different maybe one end tight more banking the other less banking but larger diameter. No less than twelve foot wide so you can run 1/8 scales. My rule of thumb, Bigger track = more horsepower, more horsepower= fewer racers.
