Im running a Losi edm and im doing great with it. Im having a prob tho, when i go around the corners, my left front kind of bounces just a little bit, and the inside half of my left front is chunking bad. I dont know if this is because of camber or this is because of the spring. The camber is at -1 so maybe a little bit more or somthing. Any help would be great. Would like more than one opinion. Thanks

Well, actual tire wear does not include chunking. Chunking your foam tires is from hitting things that aren't interested in moving, or they are rubbing on something on your chassis or body when they are turning. My guess would be the latter.

chunking the inside edge of a tire is quite odd. it may be because you are running negative camber. the left front should be positive. your dragging the inside edge of the tire instead of letting the tire flatten out when the chassis rolls.

if your front tires are to tall they will do that. i noticed a buddy of mine at coopers was running his front tires on his sprinter at 2.8 inches and the front of his car was shuttering across the track in the corners. once he trued them down to 2.5 it solved the problem. hope this helps

I didnt mean chunking, that was my mistake, i mean its a perfect 45 degree to the middle of the tire from the edge of the wheel is coming off. I do believe its becuase of my camber. I changed it to +1 and its better. Now this is the other thing. I now have one good tire and one bad. Now should i switch them or should the good tire be on the outside? thanks

Camber, caster, Ackerman all have an effect on tire wear. If it is wearing on a 45° angle, you have some setup problems, for sure. I don't think I have ever seen a tire wear like that.

As for chattering the right front, it sounds like it is under sprung/under dampened. The shock is not allowing the tire to remain on the ground, like when you see a car on the road where the wheels are bouncing because the shocks are dead. First, make sure there is oil in the shocks. Make sure you use a spring similar in weight to the oil (i.e. don't use a super heavy spring with 10 wt oil). Try a 40-weight oil with a meadium weight front spring to start. That may help the problem a bit, nut is sounds as though you may have some more serious setup isses that you will need to address before that (too much caster, too much camber, etc.).

I know it may be difficult, but can you post a picture of the front of your car, from the top-down? We might be able to help you a bit if we could see the problem, rather than having you try to describe what is wrong.

I think my prob is that i had it at neg when it should have been pos. So jsut the inside was touching the ground and around the corners that was jsut wearing. I adjusted it and hopfully it will be better. Thankyou for your guys help.

chad:

the problem is the compound tires you are using

you have been running the custom works gray compound which is too soft for newred hobbies. when the hobby shop gets some of the coopers silver get them they will last

doug hit everything on the nose with his post.you must have somthing more then just 1 degree of - or ddont realy know what a 45 degree angle looks like. im sure its a bit of both.
good luck.

You guys forgot something.................everything you said is a contributor, but pre=mounted foams are known to come loose from the edge of the wheel and peel back. If that is happening it could also cause bouncing.
Rub against the foam and see if it will peel back from the wheel. If it does.......a little Ca should fix it. Try a left front camber of 0-+2 degrees. That should even up the tire wear.
