if i maintian the same ratio, can a larger spur help in the corners as far as caring more speed ? i know theres more to it then that but i just want a genral answer/oppinion.

Unless you are running steel spur gears, the difference will never be noticed. The weight difference is negligible. Some guys will say that a smaller pinion aids in reducing rotating mass more, but It is such a small amount, there is no way you could get a quantified comparrison.

Geo, a larger spur will give the motor more braking leverage per se'. A smaller spur on the other hand doesn't give the motor that leverage. So on dirt, it's true a smaller spur gives you more roll with less "braking" effect. Like at the NYSFG, you use a small as possible spur and a small as possible pinion...lets it roll more freely. On a larger dirt track you'll also want the same if the surface is loose.

don't for get that in some situations a larger spur gear will also alow you to mount the motor lower for a lower center of gravitiy.

and farther forward.
It is always best to run the largest gears you can for a given ratio. More durable......better mesh......and in some situations better weight balance in the chassis

ok, let me elaberate some, iam close with my ratio but i want the car to carry more speed through the corner (i knwo set up has a role here to,not a newbie) so keith if what you say is true i should run a smaller spur ?

Not exactely sure how this would translate to dirt, I am sure it would be pretty close. I race oval pan cars on asphalt and carpet and generally run a bigger spur, usually 120. The bigger spur will give you better take off, off the line and the car will jump out of the corner a little more than a smaller spur. In some situations you can go too big but if you get it right a big spur will outperform a smaller spur. So yes a bigger spur should help you get off the corner quicker.

in some situations a lower motor (which equals a lower center of gravity) will make a car corner faster. this is mainly in high traction situations beause it will reduce chassis roll and make the car transfer weight quicker (but lesser amounts of course). but it can also help you in low traction and bumpy situations because it will allow for softer spring rates and dampening before the car will become over responsive or tippy. hope this help
