Do any of you guys out there use the Fantom motors? They seem to be really nicely priced, easy to get, have abundant spares avaiable, are sold by a US company, and are pretty nice looking to boot.
So for $130, how does it compare to everything else out there?
Opinions wanted. :D

I have a Fantom 27 in my MT, lots of low end power. If you chose to get one, double check the settings before you start it, I followed the instructions to a T and almost cooked it because they set it at the factory too low.
The only issue I have with Fantom is they don't provide a lot of support after the sale.
Good luck
Dale.

Doug,
I ran one most of last year at Newville & it kept up just fine. It had just enough power to keep up & did not break the rear tires loose on me. It was tricky to set at first, but I had someone who knows how to set one up do some work to it, & she worked fine after that. Hope this helps!

I would suggest a different motor like an os cvr or even the cv . The Cv will give you just about as much power and you will not have half the trouble tuning it or getting help from someone else orfrom OS . I thought the same thing about the price but found out quickly why they are so cheep I could not even get mine to run 4 minutes without it running out of fuel and if I leaned it out any more it would shut off from being to hot . When I tried to get some support from the company they told me that they could not help me. What ever you buy in life you get what you pay for !!!!! Good luck in what ever choice you make.

I have played with the Fantom .12 motors and I came to the conclusion that they only need 1 thing to make them run well; an O.S. carburetor.
Doug if you are looking to run something different, the new OS .12TZ 5 port turbo motor is showing promise, never ending powerband, awesome Torque and revs forever.
My .02 cents.

OS TZ(P) 5 port...........................Awesome, I agree Matt. Start it and it never dies, runs for 5-6 minutes on a tank, never stops pulling. Runs as good as my $325 Rody.

I'm looking for a couple of lumps for the NTC3 road race cars my brother and I are building. I just can't swallow spending $300-$400 on a motor when the whole car only cost $300.
I think we're going to look to the new TZs. They seem to be gettiing VERY high praise from everyone and don't require liquidating every other car you have to afford one.

Best bang for the buck In My Opinion. And they haul @$$ too.

Ok, any of you guys running OS TZ 12s in your cars, the specs we found on them specifiy that the SG crank is a 1/4-28 thread. Is that correct? What clutch collet nuts are you using and what clutches? I need to get this into either a CW GSX Enforcer with the RC10GT clutch system or the AE NTC3 with the 2-speed. I think those clutch nuts are for every metric 5mm threaded CG crank. What is OS doing?

Doug, I just went in and screwed a Associated nut for an SG crank on the TZ's crank and its perfect. I use the NTC3 2 speed clutch bell and MIP clutch. It all goes together like it was all made at the same place. Hope that helps. Don't be afraid of the OS, you will like it.

Good to know. I wonder why their listings say 1/4-28? Hmmm... that's the same as the 4-stroke crank threads. I wonder...

Doug, let me just say... STS Engines are one of the better choices for engines for $99, that's right...$99.00!! They'll sit and idle all day long even if they're tuned a lil fat.
Click here and take a good look...Project Zen (http://www.projectzen.net/), they even have hand modded
Here's the home website for STS, which tells you alot more about these lil monsters..STS Racing Engines (http://www.stsrc.com.tw/)
You won't be disappointed, I have used them for 4 yrs now and they have just as much power and are as smoooooooth as my RB V-12.

Just a note to say thanks for the advice, guys. My brother and I decided to purchase a couple of the OS TZ 5-ports for the touring cars. I decided that the GSX sprint car was a good home for the OZ FS26S-C 4-stroke, too. I'd have never thought I'd have two OS motors, for sure.
The results and reviews for on-road with the 3- and 5-port TZs has been nothing short of amazing. There are guys outrunning RBs and Rossis, and even modded motors with motors right out of the box. The best part is the cost of a piston and sleeve is under $50. Gotta love it.
I wish the 5-ports had blue heads though. This silver one isn't doin' it for me.

im not positive so dont hold me to this,
but i have heard that the new TZ motor is an AAC motor, simular to the siro motors.. excellent motors, and fast as hell. just a very short life span.

All of the specs I have on the TZs show it to be ABC construction.

All of the newer Sirio's are ABC as well .... (at least the few we have seen -- and the listed products on Trinity's site)
