Just read the blurp on the CW site how one of their Stock Enforcer GSX Sprint car was used to win the Dirt Oval Nitro Tour in Phoenix. Well what I saw wasn't quite stock but very fast with corrections

stock???? you guys kill me. What is stock? I currently have 5 terminator oval cars-no two are alike. different arms, shocks, shock towers, steering mechanisms, bulkheads, wheelbase, track width, tires etc. etc. etc.. The point is-no two tracks are alike. If I brought a car to Arizona to run it would probably be unrecognizable as the same car we run in Pa. SO WHAT. The whole idea is to be able to adjust the car to the conditions it is running in. If the CW car or Terminator or BMS or Dynotech or whaterver is run on a track that the stock configuration was designed for- it would probably run "stock" -If not-it would be modified to run what the conditions require. You show me a car that runs a "stock" configuration at every type of track and I am an anxious buyer. Cut everybody a break-no car is perfect everywhere-so don't bust on guys who travel to an unfamiliar track that do what they need to do to get the car to work. Thanx for the soapbox

Reading is a skill...
Here's the quote from CW's website:
RC Sports Mania in Phoenix, AZ was the site for the first naitonal stop of the 2005 DirtOval.com Nitro Tour Series where CustomWorks driver Billy Fischer had his way with the field using the new CustomWorks Enforcer GSX. When the weekend began, Billy was already the track record holder with a run of 45 laps in 5:01. Through every qualifier and on his way to the win in the main event, he completed each race with runs in the 46 lap bracket. When the dust settled, Billy had a new track record, a top qualifiying honor, and the win. Billy used his stock Enforcer GSX using the new "loose-track" package which is soon to be available for those racers competing at tracks where buggy type tires are the tires of choice.

Credit taken for "having his way with the field", was not that of a SOB car with a loose track package. If anything, the driver invented it! If it was not for the extra-oridnary abilities of the driver (both in driving and tuning) no such claim could be made! The driver had to make choices, and the decisions he made put the car in the record books.

Well, as a team driver, anything he puts on his car, designs or makes in the heat of battle, is potentially a product to be sold by Custom Works as a Custom Works product. Custom Works calling his adaptations to the Arizona track their new "loose track" package is nothing but marketing the developments and ideas of their drivers. If they sell those parts for their car, who really cares what they call it. The car and the parts he used worked.

funny thing is-Arnie Fie and Phil Cooper developed a pretty good package for the same car for our local tracks . I think they just need to give it a catchy name. Hmmmmm-let me give that some thought. C'mon Phil,Arnie-help me out here

Ideally, we all wish we could make a car so good that you just turn the transmitter on and leave it on the driver's stand for 4 minutes. As like FastFred6 said even 5 of the same car brand is 5 distinctly different cars, each well suited to the places that car runs. I think it is pretty common knowledge that our cars are "best suited" for high bite tracks, but with Billy's help we are putting together a set-up, that with a couple different pieces will make our kit of better value for people who race at tracks the require buggy type tires. What Billy ran was the prototype pieces (front & rear tower, shortened wheelbase with stock chassis) at the DODC race in Phoenix. Other than it was a stock GSX Enforcer that we are continously trying to make better.
FastFred6: WHAT? GSX not catchy? Personally I like "Tupperware Car" just don't call it slow. See you at Staub's.

The Custom Works Enforcer GSX car that was run at the DODC race in Phoenix was a stock GSX with the following changes: longer shocks (front and rear), taller shock towers (front and rear), shorter wheelbase (this was achieved by advancing the rear arm mounts forward a hole), and prototype front spindles (that allowed the use of a buggy-type wheel, but still kept the car at maximum width). Other parts were tested on the club race and practice days before the race, but during the DODC race the standard kit parts were used with the exception of the above changes.

no-no-no Arnie. I mean you need a catchy name for the Fie/Cooper Northeast set up package. You know-the tacky Williams Grove brown clay package or like that-call Coop and get his input. No racing for us this weekend- but we'll get it on next weekend.

Some humor for anyone curious, spanish to english translation of
EL BORRACHO = The Drunk
Yet still sober enough to type!
EL BORRACHO (you picked the name not me) I appreciate you editing your earlier posts, I was able to see the original versions and I have to say your comments were pretty ill informed. You reffered to the CW Enforcer GSX as a TOAD, not capable of winning. Here are a few facts you may want to add to your notes:
2004 EAST COAST OVAL CHAMPION & TQ
2004 NITRO TOUR EAST NATIONAL CHAMP and 2nd and 3rd & TQ
2004 NITRO TOUR EAST REGION CHAMP
2004 NITRO SPRINT NATIONALS CHAMPION & TQ
2004 US OPEN WHEEL CHAMPION & TQ
2005 NITRO TOUR MIDWEST REG Race #1 WINNER
2005 NITRO TOUR WEST REG Race #1 WINNER
2005 DELAWARE PAVED OVAL CHAMPION & TQ
And since you were so concerned about Tony I can tell you that he is very proud of this cars accomplishments in the past year. Maybe you should have the enthusiasm and love of this sport/hobby that he does and try to do something positive with your efforts instead of chugging some tequilla and flaming away at your keyboard.
For the record Billy Fischer is a very accomplished world class racer in many aspects of RC. We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to work with him in the development of new products and accessories for all aspects of racing. He is an asset to our company and one of the hardest working racers you will find.
Sorry guys! I couldnt help it!

I don't know what it is--maybe senility or altzheimers. But it seems to me that anyone involved in this sport who whines about changing shocks or shock mounts or wheelbase to make his car handle should look for another hobby. I think Rob should make track specific cars so that nobody has to use their gray matter. Rob---sign me up for the Newville, wileys, Staubs and Shenandoah versions. It will save me a lot of aggrivation

This really cracks me up!
Here we have a company thats bringing us new products, spending lots of money on R&D, and people bitch. Go Figure!
My hats off to Custom Works. They are working hard to help bring dirt oval back to what it used to be. Thanks.

...Am I correct in my assesment that avid R/C Dirt Oval competitor(s) are upset that a company, (Custom Works) is actually trying to develop new cars and technology for the very specialized application in which they are so passionate about???
I think Custom Works efforts should be applauded... especially by the guys who run offroad tires with a sprint body on an oval...unless, of course they prefer to go back to the days of butchering a sprint body onto an offroad buggy/truck and calling it a sprint car...
Shame on Custom Works for developing the basic car for 95% of the dirt oval tracks in the country, then trying to offer hop ups to make it work on the other 5%...

Sounds like to me the only thing that was stock on the car was the Lexan and a Nylon and Chassis plate.
I for one applaud the company and drivers in their efforts to make a better car. Don't tell me its a diamond when really it is still a rhinestone. By your own admissions here in this thread, the car was not STOCK, it had prototype parts on it.
Right now those part are not available to Joe Sixpack, but still CW wants to call it STOCK.
There is no harm in prototypes and experimentation, its good for the hobby, but that needs to be said.
Sorry guys! I couldnt help it! Me neither.

No I didn't, there is a lot of difference between "right now" and "soon".
So Joe Sixpack can't buy them right now can he?
Your success in May is something that should under "Tech Tips".
CW'S definition as "soon" to the best of my knowledge, is about 48 months as evidenced by the history on their website under "Tech Tips". Been waiting for their Tech Tips since I bought my first CW in 2001. "Coming Soon", hah!

I have to disagree with the 2 new members from Arizona. I welcome r&d wether it's from a company such as Custom Works or form the guy down the street working in his garage. Either way, the goal is to make racing better and to make their cars faster. Isn't that what we want? I always want to be faster than I have been in the past.
I race in 4 classes at my local dirt oval and none of my cars are completely "stock". Our track has rules and I just make sure to stay in those set rules.
I don't work for any R/C company, nor am I a sponsored driver. I make my own parts if I want to try something different and am unable to find the part that I am looking for. My T3 is the most "custom" of my r/c vehicles. It doesn't appear "stock" but it fits the rules which require that a stock chassis must be used but that modifications to the chassis are allowed.
Thank-You to everyone at Custom Works for everything that you do for our hobby.
I know it's their bussiness, but we need companies like them to help the dirt oval portion of r/c to grow. Their are very few dirt oval specific kits that are produced and sold. The fact that Custom Works continues to work on ways to make their kits more adjustable is a benefit to anyone that races one of their kits or that might be thinking about purchasing one in the future.
It's a shame that someone who got beat at a race has to come onto a public forum and bash the driver that beat him. Why not spend your time on making your car faster?
