I began racing 2 weeks ago and need some help. I am running the 19 turn latemodel class and I feel like I have the car handeling pretty well, I just need more speed. I have a TC3 with an LRP super reverse digital ESC, a Chamelion 2 pro 19 turn, 28 tooth pinion, and a Fusion power GP3700 6 cell pack. My best race last night was 34 laps which qualified me 12 out of 18 cars. TQ was 39 laps with most people running 36-37 laps. I was running about the same line as everyone else but the car just didn't have enough speed. What do I need to do to increase speed? I know I probably need a new ESC that is forard only and more effecient but I'd guess there is more to it than that. Are there things I can do to make the motor faster? The only rule is it has to be a 19 turn stamped arm. Beyond that we can do anything we want with springs, brushes, different can, etc. I just don't know where to start. What about batteries? I have heard the GP3700 is about the best out there right now. Is there something more I could do with them than just charge them? I am new to all of this and would apperciate any help. Thanks, Kenny.

i am dealing with the same thing in 19t sprint.what i have been told is battery voltage is very important. to be competitive you have to be around 1.18 volts per cell, this makes the motor run faster.

That is the problem with 19t motors. Originally it was meant to be a low cost spec type motor to keep cost down and to get away from the battery wars of running stock,But it has turned out to be the same as stock,At least locally anyway.I think if you get rid of motor rules and run open motor rules it helps the problem on most tracks,Because then you have to much power and have to run milder motors to keep control, Which means you do not need top dollar batteries to be fast.Just My Thought ..

i all ways like the open motor rule. most spec classes has problems, its to easy to cheat

If you will go to a handwound 19 turn, with good batterys you will see a major jump in speed.
They are very easy to tech, and are pleanty fast.

From my exsperience with the 19t motors you need to add more gear when the car is not fast enough. They dont run very high in RPM'S.But they have decent torqe.

Do not be afraid to put more gear on your 19t motors. All of them are on full blanks meaning the armatures are not slotted and will produce tons-o-torque due to the actual magnetized area Basically they're just mild modifieds.

Don't go by the heat or how hot the motor gets during the run either. Gear for lap times and heat be damned. also the motors will pull more gear at 24 degrees timing then they will at 36. That's just another tuning aid. Good luck and go faster. Hey look, There's Elvis!

they are right. the only tiime i have got good speed out of a 19t was to gear the car radically, to the point of having to cut the comm between each run! basically you need a pinion the size of a spur gear to get them going. when you get them geared right you will definetly know it becuse you will get a large increase in speed. also when you run a motor that hot you will have to replace the brushes more often because all of the comm lubricants will be baked out of the brushes. hope this helps

Thanks for the tips guys, I am going to try to gear it up some tomorrow night. I have been running 28-29 tooth pinion and a 72 tooth spur. I found out this week that the fast guys are running more like 34/66 so I think I will move in that direction. Sounds like the next thing is to learn how to maintain the motor so it can handle the abuse of the big gears.

HOW DID THE GEARING WORK? DID YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MOTOR OR BATTERY HEAT?
I RUN A T3 WITH 19 TURN MOTOR AND HAVE BEEN TOLD TO BUMP UP TO A LARGER PINION. THANKS, DON
