I'm looking to convert a mini t to a modified. I have noticed the smaller tires, in some pictures that I have seen, and obviously a mcallister body. I also want to get a latemodel body for it to. As far as shocks go, do I need to change those out too?? Any help with some info to get some parts would be great.
Thanks David

I suggest the oil filled shocks, HS55 servo and a mamba MMB25-CM2080 Competition package.

I built a dirt oval mini-T from the ground up using aftermarket chassis and parts, ball diff, etc (from Integy; gift from my son). Only a couple of the stock parts are left. I mounted T&M 12th scale foams (green front, pink rears) on mini-t (RPM or Losi) wheels (ribs were ground off in order to mount them). Losi oil-filled shocks were used with spacers to lower the ride height. Springs and shock oil weight take some time to dial in because of the small suspension travel and short wheel base. Airtronics makes a direct replacement servo (sizewise) & mini-t servo saver that connects to a regular ESC. I am using a Trinty mini-machine (brushed) for power, Integy 1100 batteries and a McAlister late model body with air dam. Mounting the late model body requires more than just the losi posts in order to keep the body from rattling. The mini machine appears to need brush replacement after three or four runs (comm cutting would also be nice but who wants to spend for a slot car truer). I also pinned the Losi replacement slipper. It took a couple of weeks to find places here and there where the stock screws tended to back out, but I have pretty much bullet proofed with lock nuts now. Buy a good tool for tightening tiny pinon locknuts (and/or lock tight) and grind a small flat on the motor shaft or the pinions will come loose (run the dust cover to avoid losses).
Last week, my son turned 45 laps in a 5 minute heat on a 165'-180' clay oval (track record). This is faster than (or on a par with) the 10th scale EDMs (terminators and CW cars) have done on the same track in stock. He beat both 18Ts (4wd) and mini-ts including a brushless version(some EDM some late model bodied). The brushless appeared slightly faster on the straights, but my car was burying them all in the corners. The late model body looks to give better handling characteristics than the EDM body.
I am kind of glad I put the effort in because it really is quick and fun to race. The only downside is all the tiny screws and clips to lose and the short wheel base looks a little odd under the late model body.

Pretty cool looking. Is anyone actually racing these things out your way? At Walt's? If I want one I assume I can contact you through the email address? Thanx.

Hey Al,
Where did you get the foams to mount on the Losi Rims?
What did you use to cut down the standard rim?

I run 1/12 scale donuts on Losi rims.

Get the best for less at the the "LITTLE O SPEEDWAY" hes has the right foam for 1/18 in donuts in two different diameters, mount on your own wheels for the look that you want. And the price is truley the best around. He has a webb site under littleospeedway.com.

I've been using 1/12 scale T&M foams exclusively. I had to grind down the ribs on either stock losi or the RPM rims to mount the foam (made a screw adapter that I chucked in a drill and then ground it against sandpaper; takes some time, but works if you are patient). The RPM wheels do not have a center recess like the losi's, so I had to grind a small recess to leave enough cvd shaft protruding to thread the nut on tight. Truing is the more difficult proposition. I had to create the adapters for my max mod. The front adater can be more easily "adapted" from existing ones. I had to have a rear adapter fabricated because of the small metric shaft (4-40 is close).
