I have a problem. I recently bought a Bulletproof sprint car kit. The guy who sold it to me is inquiring if I want to sell it back to him. Seems he now wants to build a Bulletproof for himself. He is offering me a Custom Works GSX car kit as a substitute. He is willing to apply the original price of the Bulletproof toward the price of the Custom Work's GSX kit. I like both kits, so I am torn as to whether to trade back. What does the general racing population think about these two car kits? The fellow is a friend of mine so I know he is on the level. A quick polling would be appreciated.

Well I am from Bulletproof country. I have been running a one of a kind Bulletproof for Almost two years. It has taken everything that I have thrown at it including the announcers stand. Out side of some superficial damage from time to time it is racing every week. I am sure though, that all the manufacturers put out a quaility product. So I guess what I am saying is what ever you feel the most comfortable driving. In the right hands I don't think there is any advantage. Some like Chevy's and some like Ford's etc. etc. When I see some of the money numbers verses the lap times I wonder if the additional dollars spent are worth it. I know a few people that could make a $200.00 E-Bay sprint car turn and burn. With a few adjustments. I would also guess it would depend on which car the replacement parts were more accessible and available to you at the track you run and the Local hobby shops in your area.

I asked a simple question concerning Bulletproff or Custom Works car. I appreciate the information from the adults who posted up. For the children who thought they were funny posting up unsoliciated comments, you guys remind me why I quit posting here last fall. Why don't you go play in the street and quit wasting computer space on this web site.

Hey James,
I said BulletProof because I really like that Chromoly cage. I like the way it stiffens the chassis and should be just that - bulletproof.. :D I am sure that the custom works cars are good as well but I know where your going to be racing it at and I just feel like the BP will be better suited is all.

no crime in trying to add a little humor to the forums. my personal opinion is that the custom works sprint car is a far better bang for the buck. when some body asks what car is better then another its tough to give a answer without hurting someone elses feelings. all the sprint cars out there are good kits. some cars work better then others in different track conditions. because i sell the custom works cars most people assume that i recomend them just for that reason. truth is i sell them because i think they are the best. they are very adjustable to any track condition. the quality of the components are second to none. the guys at custom works are very committed to this hobby and the customer support is very good.

Man I can't beleive you can get that upset over a couple short posts. I'd hate to see how upset you get if someone hacks you on the track. Anyway I think kipps right, for the money custom works is a better deal.

customworks is better deal. Better car I dont think so.
Bulletproof is a proven winner and cars have been run for years because of their strong cage and carbon fiber plate.

I've seen alot of posts about the cages being strong but i'll tell you I have put the custom works cage through some major abuse and I think it is about as tough as they come. I'm not saying it can't be broke anything can. But I have had some crashes that I thought sure it would be broke and it was not. I would be willing to bet alot of these crashes would have bent up the coathanger cages.

I totally agree with you on the Custom Works car. I was amazed when a guy showed me the build manual that comes with one. I think a monkey could build one using that manual. Full color pictures make it extra special. The off topic BS is just that. I have a OFF sprint car currently that we race and I am building the Bulletproof car at this time. I plan on buying a Custom Works GSX after I get the Bulletproof built. Indy RC World in Garland Texas (suburb of Dallas Texas) is hosting a DODC santioned race here in November

I am going to stick to what I said earlier. I think all of the companies that build R/C sprint cars do a great job. It will boil down to what ever fits your needs and where you are going to race. I don't think you will ever get 100% full agreement on which is best. There are just too many good ones out there. My experience is limited to Bullet Proof put that will change next year. Until you raced them all I guess it is a moot point but a heck of a topic for bench racing. Because everybody is going to have there own spin on it.

I don't drive anymore so I don't have to worry about getting hacked. If someone asks about a certain car then respond to that, not some off the wall car not even mentioned. I am going back to Texas Dirt Oval .com, on that web site people are sincere with any help you request.

One other thing to consider. What one guy considers a bad crash isn't to another. It all depends on wheather you crash at 30-35 mph. or 40-50 mph. and/or how many cars hit you at that speed.

The situation has been resolved. I am keeping the Bulletproof. I am almost ready to put it on the track. I am waiting on my new Spektrum radio to arrive, so I can install the receiver. Thanks to those who responded.

Are you sure thats not just because your from Texas? I seems to me you are a little over sensative for people enjoying this site and having some fun with (and who have also tried to answer your question to the best of their abilities.)
To say I am going back to TDODC is laughable. If I am not mistaken thats where a lot of smacktalk has originated, and the site had to be changed over to a much more strict format. Is their not headers on top of the new web page telling everyone to be nice and dont talk smack?
I dont recall us needing that.

I refuse to engage in mental debates with those who come ill equiped. As far as TDODC goes, if you don't know the inside dirt, then I am not going to air dirty laundry in public. I am a 57 year old, ex-airborne infantry Army person, so yes I have little patience with BS. I came on here asking for information concerning two particular types of cars, no more no less.
Being new to the DODC type of car I figured what better forum to gain information than to go to DODC. I have received alot of good and helpful information from some forum members, but most of it has come through private e-mails and not this forum thread.

Dirtdog,
As someone that's had their share of riffs directed at them on these boards in the past, I can tell you that genuinely most of these guys are good guys and in majority... most of it is in good humor. What goes on beyond that is largely due to things being taken out of context, or people drawing too much into what all is said, or an emotional spur being stirred up by a difference in opinion. Your tolerance of their antics is just that, but I don't think that there's many of these guys that wouldn't be considerate and helpful in the right contexts. We're all just opinionated and talking chassis' or scale realism of one product vs. another on here is almost like talking religion or politics. It's hellbent bound and ready to cause WWIII. Just have to take it with a grain of salt.
