Ive got an GT I run on dirt banked oval. I just installed the shorter shocks and speed racing shock towers. Any setup tips? I havent really driven it on the track yet but it feels like the turning radius is not as sharp as before just driving in the driveway...aside of making the rear end loose whats a good way to get more steering?

Have you changed your front caster blocks yet? If not get some 10 or 5 degree if you can get them.

Don't set a car up in the driveay. Wait and see what it does on the track.

yeah, i know, was just looking for a baseline. The suspension seems really stiff with the new shocks

when you set up your chassis you should change your front caster block. I like too use associated 15 deg for steering. front arms should be flat the rears will angle downward. because of the off set weight of your motor and battery. you can also use custom works 10 deg casted block for the truck. you can not use the same deg block because the kick up is not the same. I found that the .8 B4 shocks work very well on this thuck. They have the right amount of travle. And you can get them threaded. The buggy springs are a good choice for dirt oval racing. I start with 40wt oil on the fronts. A green spring on the left a silver for the right. and start with green springs for the rear. and change to a silver on the right rear if your truck wants to push. Use 30wt oil for the rear.

Are you running rubber tires or foams? If you are running foams, use softer tires on the front. If your running rubber tires, experiment with front and rear combinations to get the best setup for your driving style.

If your car doesnt want to work with different tires, try adding spacers to the springs, (If you have threaded shocks, screw them down)

Here is a guideline to what adding spacers does to your car

Add spacers Effect to car
to the...

Right Rear -looser coming out of corner
Left rear -tighter coming out of corner
Right front -tighter going into corner
Left front -looser going into corner

We race an OFF sprint car, which is a sprint car based on the RC10GT. A good way to increase steering is to relocate the battery to the front. I have my 5 cell hump pack mounted on top of my steering servo. The RC10GT, like the Losi XXX-NT will have a tendency to push racing on the oval. The truck was originally designed to be an off-road vechicle. With alot of input from local racers and actual hands on driving, you can make the little off-road truck a serious oval track performer. We race ours on foam tires. They last longer and allow the car to go faster. My best advice is to just get out on the track and experiment. Later on, you may want to take a look at converting it to a sprint car or an open gas truck. They are alot faster.
