I got a couple of virus-laden e-mails today, that looked a bit like this:

Dear Valued Member,

According to our site policy you will have to confirm your account by the following link or else your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons.

http://www.dirtoval.com/confirm.php?email=doug@dirtoval.com (that actually pointed to this address: http://205.138.199.146/confirm.php?email=doug@dirtoval.com)

Thank you for your attention to this question. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,Dirtoval Security Department Assistant.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT FROM DIRTOVAL.COM. DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK. It downloads an .exe file to your computer to do who knows what. Bad stuff. It isn't from us. You will never get anything from administrator@dirtoval.com. The e-mail account does not exist. :skull:

Thanks for the heads up, Doug. As someone who makes his living using a computer, and with a history of working in support capacities in the past, I can't tell you how much trouble you're saving the members of DirtOval.com by giving us this information. I also can't even begin to tell you how angry I get at the pinheads that write this kind of crap code, and for no other reason than to see its damage.

It's good to know, however, that there are many places on the net where you can get free, dependable support from highly qualified individuals about how to clean these and many similar issues out of your machine. I've had occasion to use a couple different sites, and the one I've found to be the best, far and away, is as follows

http://www.short-media.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57&page=1&sort=lastpost&order=&pp=25&daysprune=30.

They cleared up some pretty nasty stuff from my machine a few months back, and asked only for thanks in return. These guys get as much pleasure from beating the hacks as the hacks do writing that crap code.

Good luck to anyone unfortunate enough to have gotten bit by these knobheads.

Thanks for the heads up. If I ever could find the jerk offs that do this garbage I'd tie 'em up and poop on them.

The other night I was on an adult site and now my computer some times wants to dial an ISP other than my own. Also I can't open some of my files. I suppose now I screwed up my 'puter. Bastards!!!
