Hello,
My name is Jerry I am new to this forum, I run an off-road track in Elkhorn WI and am interested in getting into dirt oval. Does any one know of any tracks in South Eastern Wisconsin or Northern Illinois?
Thanks,
Jerry

Jerry! There is NOTHING! Open something up, PLEEEEEEASE!
I'd welcome a track out this way with open arms. I'm sure there are a lot of others, too, who would love to see some more options for race tracks, indoors and outdoors.

Doug,
where are you from? If we get enough interest we may be able to build the track by our off-road track. If you know of more guys from the southern wisconsin northern illinois area tell them to come forward so we can get an idea.

Jerry,
I deleted your other two identical posts inquiring about the track to keep the replys in one place. These forums are small enough so that most everyone reads all of the threads.
I am in Northern Illinois, about an hour (or so) directly south of your facility. St. Charles, to be exact. I see that your off road track is north of Lake Geneva. There really isn't much in the midwest, outside of Monee and a few tracks here and there, so you have a lot of real eastate than you can cater to.
Good outdoor oval tracks are few and far between. A new location would be most welcome by many racers.

Jerry:
History in the area.
Eau Claire , WI I believe is still open. Nice outdoor track.
Oskhosh, WI has both in and outdoor dirt ovals
Eagle River, WI not sure if that one is still running
RC Raceways , Oakcreek WI Closed Sept 1993
Trackside, 43rd & Bradley, switch locations and surface fall 1994
I think that is it for dirt ovals in the state. I live 20 minutes from Elkhorn. Sounds
like fun.

As stated, currently the only indoor dirt oval in Wi is Revolution Raceway in Oshkosh. Racing weekly on wednesday nights at 7pm. Popular classes are Mod EDM, Mod Sprint, Mini-T's, and Gearbox (trucks). Three cars to make a class. Two heats and a main. I know that the track owner has said that if he can get respectable car counts for the rest of the winter he has expressed interest in streching out the track (currently a small 98' tri-oval run line) and from what a few of us are figuring it would end up in the 130-150' range if he takes out the walls that are the current limiting factors on the tracks size. I know they would love to see more racers. Tracks uses an AMB scoring system (can use personal transponders) and foam tires are the best choice for getting the cars hooked up. Ample indoor pit space with tables and chairs, and AC power are available.
located at:
807 Oregon St., Oshkosh
Phone: (920) 426-1840
As an aside Nick also for got Radio Mania which was a tiny high banked dirt oval which converted to asphalt which closed mid/late 90's

Hey Brad, I'd love to come out for a dirt oval night, but Wednesday evenings makes it a bit tough on anyone not from Oshkosh, no?

I'm not much of an indoor fan, real racing happens out doors. I will be up at Oshkosh a few times this summer, Bill and I have put together a 4 race off-road series. 2 in Oshkosh and 2 at Thunder. http://www.thunder-rc.com/

Cant argue that. I only live about an hour away and I have to work wednesdays so even living in Wi and I cant make it 95% of the time. A few of us have tried for a friday night program, but the owner didnt go for it and its a chicken and the egg kinda thing. Without more racers the oval has no pull for a better time slot, but without a better time slot.....
Cant say as i would have much intrest in running a sprinter on an off road track. Is there an oval at the track in Elkhorn?

Its been awhile since I posted and I thought I would give you guys an update.... We just built a banked dirt tri-oval, it is 65 x 34. We will be racing on Saturdays for now (mixing it with off-road). I hope to see some of you guys at the track.

How's about Southside in Rochester MN, it's a great indoor dirt oval, with a ton of fun lovin' talent out there, run sprints and latemodels, and for me it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive ONE WAY. But I'll be there, and Decorah Iowa has an indoor oval, look up Curtis Peterson here on the forums.

Thanks for the plug Scott. Here's a link to our site if anyone is interested. There's not much action on the site or at the track now, we start racing again in November.

Jerry - I'm going to have to try out the 18T when I bring the B4 EDM out to race. We've been having a blast racing them at Trackside in Kenosha. Now I want to try it on the dirt, too.

Southside Speedway in Rochester, for the summer,is running offroad on sundays and oval outdoors on thursday nites.Sorry to say the oval is blacktop---but one hell of alot cleaner than dirt and easier on mechanical parts. The track is a big 250 ft. center line 12-15 degree banking.Did i say the track was BIG---like in longgggg front and back straights. We have recently been running 4 wheel-2 wheel nitro late models together.I cannot say enough about how impressive the Lightning cars (built by Kubista Racing) handle .They're damn fast too. So far, twice in the six races out of this 9-race season. It's pretty popular with the majority of the racers, so I think they'll be doing alot more oval in the future.

Thank you for the bit O2......The lightning chassis is still in prototype stages, I have made few changes to the original design but hope to have a final product after 5 or 6 more races of testing.

Jess from revolution raceway here. Not only are we planning on expanding the dirt oval track to its full capacity, We are also open to racer suggestion on what night to race.Saturday and Thursday are and have been committed to other forms of racing. Friday ,Wednesday, and Sunday are open. I hope to start track work very soon. I would like to encourage any racers to let us know when you can make it. This program (indoor dirt oval) is new and in need of a jump start so we are more than willing to work with any interested/committed racers. Thanks, Jess

We are racing on Saturdays, Wednesday the oval is open for practice. 8/20 will be our first official Oval race day. We have had high interest in the program and all are new or returning to oval form many years of being away. I am not sure how many we will have at first but I hope it will expand to a huge event out here. I hope some of you may have a chance to make it out to the track on Saturdays for Oval and Off-Road. If you have any questions feel free e-mail me.
Thanks

Hey Jess, I'm all for Friday nights. Middle of the week just doesnt work for me. Is the plan still to knock down the cinderblocks and take the track out the the exterior wall, or is there a different gameplan?
